Last week Ford issued a recall that affects a number of different models, including the Lincoln MKC. The other affected vehicles are the Explorer, the Transit van, and the F-650 and F-750 trucks.
The Explorer and MKC are being recalled due to an issue with the engine-block heater.
When the vehicle is parked and the heater is plugged-in, the unit can overheat, possibly causing an engine fire. Ford knows of two such fires, but no resulting injuries. Most of the 3,129 affected MKCs and 2,407 Explorers were sold in Canada from 2015 to 2016. Dealers will replace the engine-block heater, and the cord if necessary, with a different design. This affects only vehicles with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.
The Transit van is being recalled due to its side curtain airbags, which may have been installed incorrectly, and the 2015 and 2016 F-650 and F-750 are being recalled due to incorrectly manufactured parking-brake clips.
