Lincoln to Focus on "Core Lineup", Not Coupes or Sports cars
Don't hold your breath for a Mustang-based Lincoln because Lincoln has downplayed the possibility in a recent interview. Lincoln says that "luxury coupes and sports cars are not the first place we need to go."
Lincoln will introduce 3 new models in the coming years. First will be the Continental, debuting at the North American International Auto Show in January. The remaining two vehicles are as of yet unknown. Reports suggest there could be an all-new crossover which may revive the Aviator moniker. That crossover will probably be based on the Ford Explorer and replace the languishing MKT.
Smart move. They need to focus on core products they're good at and getting those volumes up, after that then they should look into rivaling other brands with more unique and micro-niche products. Got to keep the lights on!
What do you guys think of the new grille they debuted on the Continental? I don't think I'm a fan, at least not at the expense of the winged grille on every other Lincoln. The new grille looks too predictable. it no longer is creative, no longer stand out from the rest.
Uhhhh, that refreshed MKZ with 400 hp and 400 lb feet or torque will be a fantastic consolation prize. If the weight doesn't go up too much over the current model, it won't be much heavier than the Mustang...
