Key fob battery

We have had our 2016 MKC Reserve since October. Wife drives vehicle most of the time and she told me the low battery for the key fob alarm display came on. I drove the vehicle this weekend with my key fob and got the same message. I got new batteries but found it curious that both fobs would need batteries at the same time. Are they on a time schedule and how often do you have to replace?

Had my '17 since July 2016 as my daily driver and uses the remote start from the key fob almost daily. Haven't gotten a low battery message yet. Maybe it's just the batch of batteries being installed on your keys from the factory.

Wife's fob was near when I drove the vehicle and it was sensing her's. Mine is fine. Changed her batteries and alarm went away.

I have never gotten the keyfob replace battery on my 2015 MKC Reserve - bought in summer 2014.

I got the warning on one keyfob on my 2017 MKZ Reserve in October 2018 - bought in summer 2016. Didn't have time to deal with it, so starting using the other fob which had never been used except for giving it to the Lincoln Maintenance guys a couple times when they came to pick the car up. I got the replace battery warning on that one in December 2018.

I had a 2013 MKZ Reserve bought in Spring 2013 and sold in summer 2016 - never got the warning on that one.

All cars are "garaged" and never locked at home. Don't know what my experience means. Prolly has something to do with the battery supplier.

I bought my MKC in June/2015 although it was built in Dec/2014. I use the same FOB exclusively. I got the message to replace the battery a couple of months ago.

My fob takes 2025 lithium batteries. I bought Energizer for $2 at the local grocery store. Just for the heck of it checked the price when I was at a Shopko and they were $7 each, quite a difference for the same brand. Probably because it was in the medical area.

Key is not recognized by car when batteries changed

I drive a 2015 MKC. I changed the key fob batteries, as the dashboard message said that the key batteries were low and needed to be changed soon. When I replaced the old batteries with brand new ones ( installed as per the MKC owners manual ) the key fob would not work. The dashboard said that the key was not recognized. I tried 3 different brands ( sets ) of 3 Volt CR2025 batteries.
Anybody else have this problem ?

Seems silly to ask but are you sure that you installed the new batteries with the polarity the correct way?

Yes, I did. Now get this, when I removed the new replacement batteries, and re-installed the old batteries, the key fob worked.

Perhaps the new batteries were dead?
