Cooled Seats

Never thought to ask this question because I thought I knew the answer - but now I'm not so sure. My cooled seats only blow air out of the seat bottom and not the back. After going through a particularly hot summer I realized that I would prefer the cool air on my back, or better yet in both places. For those of you with cooled seats, does the air only come out of the seat bottoms like mine, or is mine broken? Thanks.

Yours is broken unfortunately I believe. Had same problem but mine never even initially blew cool air from the bottoms either. The TSB fix made my seats cool including the back panels. My heated seats got warm but only after 15 minutes or more. Never felt heat from back panel either. We will see how well the fix works this winter...My husbands escape titanium's heated seats were HOT in seconds and my Cadillacs seats heated pretty instantly too. This is my first car with cooled seats. They are not super cold which for me is fine. My husband is constantly overheated and would prefer they be even colder.

Hey dk4500 how do you like your EOS? Always wanted one of those but need bigger four door vehicle for awhile now unfortunately. Love them! Any issues? Land Rover is releasing a convertible evoque but looks like a soft top...would love to see hard top on that!

First had a 3yr lease on the Eos and loved it, mainly as a warm weather toy as I had an extra car (Acura TL) in the garage. Then when the lease was up I decided to let it go and go back to using the TL. One year later I really missed open top driving and VW had just re-freshened the Eos to a much more sporty look, which I liked very much, so I bought a new one. In the last 7 years I've had 2 Eos's and love the hard top convertible experience. It would be hard to ever go to a rag top.

If you really want one you better act quickly because 2015 was the last year for production and there are a few still hanging around VW lots. You can probably get a great deal. For some reason VW never marketed the Eos hence it wasn't much of a seller, but a lot of people missed out on a good thing. I shopped all of the hard top convert. (BMW, Volvo, Lexus, Mercedes, Infiniti) and the Eos is the only hard top convertible with a fully functional sun roof (and it's as large an opening, if not larger then our MKC's). The Eos has the biggest trunk - with the top down or up of any of the competitors. We go on trips to the beach for 5 days and can fit 2 large soft luggage bags, 2 sand chairs and a beach umbrella in the trunk (with the top open) and still have the entire back seat empty. I'm sure you've seen the complexity of how the top works, and it works well - never had a problem. But the consistency of that hard top complexity makes me a bit angry now that I am having so many glitches with my MKC on items that are far simpler...like Sirius radio or cooled seats...if you know what I mean.
So just to clarify your initial response - your seats blow out cool air on both the seat back as well as seat bottom? Oh well, add it to the list of minor but annoying problems with my MKC. Should have waited for the 16's - I think they will be far more reliable.

So just to confirm, when the seats now cool both bottom and back? Thanks.

Yes, nice feature. Initially my backs did not do anything(for heated or cooled). After the TSB fix the backs pieces now work. You got a 2016 so you shouldn't have any issues (hopefully) with your heated/cooled seats. The 2015's did/do.

The cooled seats on my CTS actually drew air in not blew air out. Do the cooled seats on the MKC work the same? You could test them by putting a sheet of paper in the seatback and you could see it stick.

They blow out.
I had Cadillac srx but only heated seated..they heated much more quickly and hotter than my MKC..Same for my husbands escape Titanium, his seats heat immediately and so hot you have to turn it down. Would actually look forward to the 4 1/2 hour drive home after a long day of skiing to sit on those seats, felt so nice on those muscles, it only they massaged too! I barely feel my MKC's heat after 15 minutes. The TSB was applied so we will see if there is a lot of improvement or not this winter...

I had the same with my 2015 MKC... the heating took forever, especially when comparing to my Wife's 2013 Escape. After the TSB... I think they were better, but winter was over at that point I got the TSB done, so I really did not get a great chance to test before it tried to kill me. I do think my cooling worked for both the bottom and the back, no issues.

I hope they ironed all that out with the 2016s... I will know soon enough.

According to the service mgr at my dealership, it's only the bottom. My issue is that they don't cool enough to feel where it's supposed to cooling. I did find that it's standard because I along with the Service mgr compared it with a MKX and they were the same.
