It's on order

Hello All,
Just ordered 2017 MKC select with select plus and cold weather package 10 days ago. Ordered only because I wanted the Sonata Spin interior rather than the wood and could not find any around with that package. But now have a concern
I got the car with the 2.0 and wonder if I should have got the 2.3
I test drove one 6 weeks ago a reserve model and was very impressed with it's performance. But did not look to see the engine. it was early in my hunting for a car and the dealer said they all have the same engine (NOT).
My concern is am I going to be disappointed with the 2.0. Now I'm not looking to drag race but want to know can get on the highway safely. I'm coming out of a 15 Cadillac SRX which seems to have decent power. I'm excited for the car but am wondering if there is a big difference in engine power. I read the spec's and see the difference in horsepower but am really looking for someones input who has the 2.0 or knows a personal comparison. Can anyone help
Much appreciated

I have a 2.0 and thus far have no complaints, of course when you need that extra punch put it in sport mode, and enjoy! Of course more horsepower is always welcomed, but for me personally I am pleased with the 2.0, there are times when you will feel the turbo lag a bit but once in catches up you keep going and going...it's disappointing that the dealer told you all the engines are the same, but he is trying to sell you a vehicle...so always ask for a brochure, or Google the info in front of them!!!

If you can change the order to the 2.3 do it, otherwise you will be very disappointed with owning an underpowered CUV, especially if you are coming from a V-6. The 2.3 engine is the same as the Mustangs just detuned slightly. No, I am not racing around but the MKC weights just about 4000 lbs and IMHO the 2.0 is barely adequate to the task of powering the vehicle. I also came from a 6 4x4. Currently, I am getting 23.5 MPG, big improvement over my old SUV that got 18 mpg.

I have had the 2.0 now for about 10 weeks and have no complaints with it. The 240 HP rating was a good step up from the 176 HP in my RAV4.

Had my MKC Reserve 2.0t since November, it's got plenty of pickup and go from a dead stop and for passing. I'd only go with larger engine if you needed towing power otherwise I think you'll be happy. If you need a little more pickup from a dead stop put into Sport mode.

FYI - had car filled with 5 people including neighbor who drives Porsche's, he was impressed with the pickup that the MKC has. To be clear, it's not Porsche level but been happy.

I just looked up specs on the 2015 SRX, according to this site the 0-60 is 6.2sec (1/4 mile = 14.7 sec). I then checked what the 0-60 times were for the MKC Reserve to compare 2.0t and 2.3:

MKC 2.0t - 7.0sec (1/4 mile = 15.2 sec)
MKC 2.3 - 6.2 sec (1/4 mile = 14.5 sec)

The 2.3 is on par with your current SRX, but with under a sec difference in 0-60 and half sec in 1/4 mile tests I'd doubt you could discern the difference between the two engines.

I traded my '14 Escape Titanium 2.0 in this year for a '17 MKC Reserve 2.3. Noticeable power increase. Go to automotive-catalog.com. This site will give you full specs. According to them the MKC is about 400 lbs heavier, but .6 tenths second faster 0-60, and .6 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile. ( 15.1 @ 91mph vs 14.5 @ 94mph)

I have the 2.3 and I several weeks back I went for a country drive to see what the MKC could really do... I found myself hardly getting deep into the throttle with all the torque available... That said I'm sure the 2.0 would be similar... FYI This opinion is from an aging former Corvette owner .

You buy a Mustang 5.0 to go fast, not a Mkc
