Heated seat question

The front heated seats on my '17 MKC Reserve (w/climate) don't seem to get as warm as previous vehicles. My wifes '11 Escape and the '14 Escape I traded in both have heated seats. They both warm up quicker and seem to get a lot warmer than the seats on my new MKC. Is this because the MKC seats are both heated and cooled? I've only used them for a 15 minute duration so far but they weren't nearly as warm as my wifes Escape. Does it take these seats longer to warm up? The heated steering wheel works great!

I have a 2015 model and I just complained (service technician) about my seat warmers not getting nearly as warm as my past cars or my husband's car. Service guy basically said the seat temps are set that way from the manufacturer. I'm wondering are they not has warm b/c of the cooling system too. I've never had cooling seats before.....only heated seats, and they were way warmer than what I have now.

Unlike seats that are just heated, they use a heating element or wire that is just under the leather/cloth so it heats up faster. Seats that are cooled/heated are done via air, heated air or just air passing thru the holes. The air also has heating elements but requires a fan to push the heated air so it takes sometime to heat up. My 06 navi works this way too.

Many owners, including myself, have complained about the slow heating seats. There are several threads about this on here. There is also a TSB (at least for my 2015 MKC) which when done improves the situation a bit but the seat still does not heat as fast as in my previous cars including my Lexus which had both heated/cooled seats.

I have found that my heated seats don't warm up nearly as fast as the one-setting heated seats in my Mustang for quick trips close to home. But on a longer trip, it doesn't take too long before I'm dropping from 3 to 2 or 1 bars on the heat setting.

First World problems...

The seats in my '17 are very slow to warm too. We have a '13 Ford CMax with heated seats, and they get hot much faster. It sounds like the fact that the MKC seats are heated and cooled using air passing through them answers why.

We just added a 3rd Ford product to the fleet. All have the heated/cooled seats. A 2015 F-150, a 2015 MKC and a 2018 Edge. The 2 2015 seats work about the same, they heat up but slowly and they kinda of cool. The new Edge heats up quickly and gets hotter. The difference? I can hear a fan blowing inside the Edge's seats. I hear nothing in the other 2. I know these 2 have a fan, it just seems it's much weaker. I wonder is there is some upgrade that can be done?

THey are definitely slower to warm than any other vehicle I own. Tal\kes time to get heated air circulating. Bet the straight heated seats are much better.
