Rear Hatch

My wife has a 2015 MKC and her backup camera recently quit working. I don't want to break anything ('cause I know I'll never hear the end of it) but I need to get the interior panel off of the rear hatch so that I can access the camera and its connections.

How do I get the rear hatch panel off so that I can see the inner workings?

Remember a lot of electronics is controlled by modules. The point of failure is not always obvious.

Well, I finally figured out how to remove all of the plastic trim and other body panels to access the camera. I took it out, cleaned all of the contacts, and put it all back together. Nothing.

Guess what? About a week later, the wife drives it and the camera is suddenly working again. It has worked for at least the last week now. What gives?

blankster, I'm ready to learn about the modules you mentioned. If you have anything for this situation, please let me know.
