Test Drove MKC

We saw it at the NY Auto Show and were impressed with the design. We couldn't wait to test drive one. Very impressive vehicle, great exterior and interior design, finally a functioning Ford touch screen, impressive ride, silent, fair handling and enough power.

What did we notice that we didn't like? I'm 6' 3" and the back seat is totally useless behind me and my wife is 5' 9" it is is nearly useless behind her. Nearly a deal breaker for a compact SUV, really subcompact sedan size rear seat room.

The other thing I haven't seen is real world fuel economy. The EPA numbers aren't great and the Ecoboost engines are known to struggle mightily to make the EPA numbers.

We might get one anyway, but will wait for Lincoln to discount/rebate the price way down. We own a 2013 BMW X3 3.5i and will keep it in any case. Hard to believe Lincoln benchmarked the X3 blew the interior size so badly.

I'm not defending Lincoln or anything, but the MKC is what it is.

It all depends on what you are looking for and what your priorities are. To me the size of the vehicle comes first. Then the cargo capacity will have to match for 5 occupants before I look at the rear passenger space. I am never worry about the front seats as it will always fit 2 adult there.

I believe that a "compact" car/crossover is not meant to completely fit five +6 feet tall occupants. The main idea is to fit at least 2 adults in the front, and a combination of great versatility in the back with the hatch & the folding seats.

In my younger age, I would have picked the Benz GLA. And if there were only two of us, I would have definitely picked the GLA for its even smaller size.

The MKC is just a deal breaker.

I'm surprised that you found that the back seat wasn't very spacious. That is always something that people complain about so you would think at this point that companies wouldn't make that mistake again. If its just the back seat room though, it seems like a relatively small problem in the grand scheme of things. If its your car, you never really end up in the back seat anyways.

I bought a Sapphire/Ebony Reserve AWD 2.3L, Climate, 19" Wheel MKC yesterday, pick it up Sat morning. Used X Plan, $1000 Conquest Cash, $750 X Plan Cash, 0.9% 36 month. About $3800 under sticker before TT&L. Another nice thing about X Plan is it limits all other dealer fees to a total of $100.

I also figured out the SiriusXM announcement. The MKC comes with 6 years of Traffic and Travel Link, which will stay active even if you don't continue the Radio subscription. Normally those features can only be active in addition to a Radio subscription. There was some initial confusion that the announcement was for 6 years of free Radio, which is not the case. To be clear, 1 year included Radio and 6 years included Traffic and Travel Link.

I'll report back with real world MPG and posts some pics after delivery.

Nice Todd! Congrats. Did they give an impression of how long the order would take?

My local dealer only had 2 MKC's about a month ago. Both sold and they've had none for some time now. In a 60 mile radius and out of about 6 dealerships only 1 has an MKC right now and the others have had several on order for some time now.

Picked it up this AM, even more impressed after an hour of driving and fiddling. Amazing how much was copied from BMW/Audi (in a good way), while some things are just better and purely Lincoln. Got 26 MPG mostly hwy with some stop and go and hilly rural mixed in, so EPA figure is spot on.

Had zero issues with touch screen while exploring every menu.
