Bugs getting in the car?

OK, its been 2 summers now and my wife has a 2015. Most of the summer it is parked in the garage and not used while we travel in our other vehicles. It is completely shut inside the garage, all windows, etc.

Well when we come back and she gets in it to drive after a couple weeks sitting it has a bunch of dead bugs in it that obviously get in. She thought it was a fluke last summer or maybe left a window cracked but no...

This week after about two weeks it had about 6 big dead bugs of varying kind, on dash, floor. Where are they getting in?

And her last car did the same thing (sat in our garage most of the summer) and there were NEVER dead bugs in it when she came back

Just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

If you leave the climate control system in fresh air mode rather than recirc, then the vent is open to let fresh air into the cabin and not only can bugs get in the system but so can mice and small rodents. This happens to me all the time in the winter when I park the car in the garage. I have sun flower seeds in the garage that I feed the birds and the mice, chipmunks are always filling the ventilation system and air filter with seeds. One time in my previous car there was a horrible rotten smell and I guessed that the rodent must have gotten trapped, died and rotted. What you should do is turn the system to recirc which closes the vent, before turning off the car.

Oh Yikes! Good to know. Thanks. We will definitely check that. I had some **** mice get up into our John Deere Tractor and do some major damage on the electrical system..but we recently sealed up and finished our garage and no more evidence of the mice thank goodness but bugs still get in.

^ Agreed, recirculate ALWAYS before complete shutdown for the day/week/month....with that said, there is the cabin filter (charcoal) to deal with smells and various other incoming odours,it is possible that this filter is not quite sealing properly ( possibly installed crooked and the 2 side tabs are not engaged) I've already changed mine out once, huge difference with the new filter to the old....I can see bugs slipping past it if it is NOT seated properly.
