Have you guys seen the MKC's 2.3L in the new mustang? its been cranked all thw way up to 305 HP, which means for you ricky racers out there the MKC is hiding 20 ponies from you ;)

Anybody thinking of trying to unleash them, or is 275 enough?

I know eventually that guys that have this engine in their 2015 mustangs will want to tune the **** out of it. It's going to be interesting to see what sort of power the engine can handle before internal parts need to be upgraded.
THe Mustangs ecoboost engine is the same engine as the MKC?

yes sir, they share the same 2.3L EcoBoost 4. Although the MKC's has been detuned for fuel efficiency...
Im dreaming of the day they release a MKC performance model with the new 5.0 V8 they will be using in the new mustang ;)

it could be the next Juke-R

detuned? does it run on premium or regular?
In the mustang, this engine will be a beast, in the MKC, it will make it one fun CUV to drive, much unlike the rest in it's segment
regular, just like the Mustang. By detuned I mean that in the mustang the 2.3 EcoBoost will crack out 305 bhp while in MKC it will make 275...
I wonder if that means that with a chip or tune the MKC will be able to make 300bhp :D

thats very likely.
it's even possible we can use a tune like that to get more MPG's which will be popular for people that just want that

oh probably ;) why, are you planning on entering the stop light grand prix LOL
of course.

gotta beat the other guys to the grocery store!
I'll take the 285 h.p. and higher torque of the MKC engine when I'm pushing 4,000 lbs. around.

Looks like the 2016 Focus RS will also get this engine. The new gen of hot hatches is shaping up to be pretty intense.

2016 Ford Focus RS Coming With All-Wheel Drive: Report

Power, meanwhile, will come from Ford’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine already announced for the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost. While in the Mustang the engine is tuned to deliver 310 horsepower, we hear that in the Focus RS it will deliver anywhere between 325 and 350 horses—with the final figure likely to lie towards the upper limits of that range. Since few buyers are expected to cross-shop the Focus RS and Mustang, it appears Ford has no issue with competition between the two.
Ford really pushed the focus with the current generation, never wanted a focus as badly as i do now.

Trust me you don't. The DCT on those things is a downright DISASTER! But SHHH ;)
Gee, I don't know. A good friend of mine has one(2014) and he drives the wheels off it. He can believe the cost per H.P. /FUN factor. Another friend did the one lap of America in his.

MKC Ford Tune upgrade?

Will the MKC have this option?

The ProCal handset for the Focus ST’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder and Fiesta ST’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines is available at FordRacing.com for $595, and plugs into the diagnostic port in the driver’s side footwell.
This allows owners to alter several vehicle parameters, including throttle response, the turbocharger’s wastegate, fuel curves, and spark tuning.

That allows for a more aggressive driving experience and, of course, more power. Ford says owners can pull an extra 90 pound-feet of torque from a Focus ST’s motor.
The real advantage over aftermarket tuning, though, is that none of this voids the warranty. That makes it less financially risky for owners to start fiddling with a car straight off the dealer lot.
Ford also plans to launch a similar device for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine in the Mustang.

345 horsepower from the 2.3L

For those who might not know, the performance numbers for the 2.3L Ecoboost in the Ford Focus RS were unveiled at the Geneva Car Show in August: 345 horsepower and 324 pound-feet of torque.

I certainly do see (hope) in the not-too-distant future MKC's with that kind of fun power.

More on how Ford powered up that engine:

Except the Focus RS won't have a DCT it's manual transmission only.
