One of the cool new features that the Lincoln MKC brings us is Approach Detection. The MKC will detect you getting close to the car (about 9 meters) and will welcome you with an illuminated 3 foot by 1 foot welcome mat on the ground outside both front doors. The handle wells will glow in a color tuned to the vehicle's exterior color, and the tail lights and headlights will also glow. So it really just a big show feature, but it is cool nonetheless.

A lot of show to the feature, i thought it would be something more than that, like it having some control over the brakes or just something more, more like the other approach systems

well this is just a video, it might just be doing an okay job at showing how bright these things actually light up, it will be best to see it in person to get a better idea.

I want to see the feature working on a different color MKC because they say that the door handle light color changes to match the exterior color. I'm wondering if it is still white, or if it changes to actually glow the color of the car. I have a feeling that the welcome mats may not look as nice in person as it does in this video. We will have to wait and see to find out.

I think white LED would make the most sense. Works on all colors.

It does but even the light blue LED's still work good, not much of an issue with it on other colors but white is definitely a better choice. Blue looks amazing with white.
