Does anybody know if it is possible to upgrade/retrofit the new sync 3 touchscreen system into a 2015? I hate the sync screen in my 2015; the screen just does not work/react to touch well. I had a 2017 MKZ loaner with the sync 3 and thought is was so much better.

Not sure if I remember correctly, but think I saw a post somewhere which indicated that it could be done but at a cost of a couple thousand dollars which is crazy.

I would agree. It's probably cost prohibitive. For sure its hardware and software and perhaps interfaces to existing systems I.e. HVAC, audio etc plus the fact you can do wifi updates. It would be an interesting question for a Ford engineer.

I wonder if I could pick up one from a scrapped out 2017 for a low price. The only issue would be how to integrate it or would it be just a "plug and play"? Probably not that simple. Hmmmm.

When Mustang owners (10-14, at least) who have a base car want to swap out for one of the better SYNC w/ nav systems, there are a lot of steps that culminate with you providing a VIN from a car that is known to have the nav system already. I wonder if it would require the same subterfuge...

sync 3 updates from wifi so I would suspect the update system will ping your VIN before starting. I would bet any update would be a challenge since your VIN says 2015 model without sync 3.
