I was told today by a Lincoln dealer that I need to replace the engine. This is due to coolant intrusion. I'm really disappointed, it's a very costly repair. Is the engine replacement absolutely necessary? Does anyone know of a law firm that is seeing Ford for this issue, I'd gladly add my name to the list

Related to engine repair, a little more information may be helpful. Was the engine still running or completely shelled out, as in knocking or not running at all?
Unfortunately repair of an existing engine can meet or exceed the cost of a replacement short or long block, depending on how seriously your motor is damaged.
EDIT: if you had coolant in your oil, chances are you've got pretty severe damage. Within that bigger picture of engine replacement there may be some options however. Isn't this covered somewhat by your drivetrain warranty, or are you significant high miles?

I heard at one point that there was going to be a class action lawsuit. Based on the way. I understand it. Your engine does need to be replaced, I don't think there's a work around. Once you start having coolant intrusion, the damage to the block is beyond repair

I was told recently by a Ford/Lincoln service manager that Ford was extending the power train warranty on these motors to 80,000 miles.
If yours was bought used, and was "Lincoln Certified" is should be extended to 100k.

Yes the engine was still running, the issue is a known problem with coolant intrusion with the four cylinder ecoboost motor. This is a common problem with this motor. unfortunately we are out of warranty.....I was told by the dealership that motor replacement is the only option.

Unfortunately we are out of warranty. The car has 116,000 miles on it. There is a known issue with the four cylinder ecoboost engine Ford refers to it as coolant intrusion. This is due to the design flaw in the block. We were told by the dealership that the only option is to replace the entire motor

@Clentz533 I am sorry to hear that, I would advise you to call Lincoln Concierge and express your disappointment and how you have been a loyal customer with (hopefully) all services performed at the dealership. I was in the same boat as your car (Same Year, 2.3L 83K Miles), and Lincoln was able to help on covering some of the cost for customer loyalty. I 100% the poor design is a CAL waiting to happen, if you need the car like I did, and does not want to take a major hit by not replacing the engine and just trade it in, give them a call and see what happens. Worse case they tell you no.
