Hello guys
Thanks for creating this awesome forum and meeting wonderful people here. I am looking to get a 2019 Lincoln MKC select or anything similar but I'm really interested in this one, unfortunately this car has salvage title and I am looking to the community to check if there is anything else I should be looking out for while doing my inspection day, and I will purchase the car report to see damage and other details.

Some things that I will be looking out for during my inspection today:

noises in the engine
check transmission for slips jolts etc
verify all electrics / features / lights,
coolant or oil leaks
They are asking for the price of $15,500 and it has 55336 miles with a Salvage Title.

Thanks for all your concern, I decided to run the VIN Check from this site which is cheap :Detailed Vehicle History Report For any Vehicle - 100% Accurate, There was an auction records and PICTURES, @Buckeye thanks for the source I got the report just to check other history on the car too, so seems like the car front damage doesn't seems too serious but there's one airbag deployed, what do you guys think, is this a good deal or pass? Let me know

Personally I'd never buy a vehicle with a salvage title (good luck trying to sell it in the future, a salvage title is a massive turnoff to the general public) but given it already has 55K miles I'd be concerned that coolant is or will very soon begin leaking into the combustion chamber. This is becoming a very well-known problem with other Ford vehicles as well stemming from a design flaw with the engine itself. Just the other day someone in this forum posted that their 2019 needs a new engine at 70K miles. I've heard of this issue happening to vehicles with as little as 28K miles. If this problem does occur the engine will need to be replaced which will cost an arm and a leg and I'm assuming this one won't come with a warranty. Personally I'd stay away from it

I actually fix my cars from salvage titles and drive them, first thing I would do is take the Vin number and Google search it, usually if it went to auction you’ll find the pictures of the vehicle and then you can actually see what you’re dealing with. Nine times out of 10 people are trying to flip the salvage titles and cut major corners making them a very poor choice, in my situation being I used to be a certified technician I can make them back to 100% again but it takes a lot of time and expense to do that. Not all salvage vehicles are a poor choice but if you don’t know the man who fixed it the risks usually are not worth the reward.

...first thing I would do is take the Vin number and Google search it, usually if it went to auction you’ll find the pictures of the vehicle and then you can actually see what you’re dealing with...

use this website to see the photos of damage if it went through an auction. You need the VIN number. It will also tell you how much they paid for it. (not including the fees the buyer pays)

I have purchased salvage title cars and had few problems with them,,,, however they are only worth 1/2 of the value of a non-salvage car... insurance value is 1/2 also.... so a $15.500 salvage car is priced higher than a non-salvage car at $31000... about 1/3 book would be justified.. also some companies will not cover a salvage car.... flood cars are out with most insurances.....

Depends on why it has a salvage title, it's not always because of an accident. I bought a low mileage Taurus with one because something got on top of the LF fender liner and chewed thru some wires in the harness, it was repaired when I got it and few years later I had to do another fix. Try to find out when it was wrecked, if it was, could have been stolen and partially stripped, and what the miles were, if it's been driven 20-30k miles since and not had more than one owner in that time it's probably safe to say it OK.

I’ll actually back up from what I said, there is minimal to no structural damage that I could tell from those pictures. The branded title wouldn’t bother me at all based on the damage. Even if the man who repaired it was not thorough I think you’ll still have a safe car

If you are not sure... bring the car to a shop (perhaps a repair shop) for an inspection and bring him/ show him the photos so he knows where to focus. Plus I would do a OBDII read to see what it says. plus see when the codes where last cleaned.. if at all. One other thing -- which engine?? if 2.0 look into where it was assembled. There is a great post, on this site, about 2.0 flaw from some foreign countries and the VIN will help identify where it was made. They are known to be major financial issues for their owners. Not sure if it was resolved for 2019 line.
Price wise: yes a reasonable price based on what he paid (plus fees) plus cost to repair.

Thanks to you guys, yes I'm not sure and I would rather bring a mechanic to inspect the car, as I'm not an experienced car guy, but as @copbait said there seems to be no structural damage which i was worried about, but I'm still considering whether to get a clean or salvage title
