It's standard in the new Escape, why hasn't Lincoln delivered a software update for us yet for those of us with the SYNC 3 system?? It's almost impossible to find any updates online on Lincoln's future plans for the OS, and there have been zero updates since the 1.0 came out, would be nice for more frequent updates, and better communication.

Sync 3 comes on the '17s. When I looked in the past if I'd possibly getting it for my Edge, the answer was no. From what i could find, Sync 3 runs on new hardware so I wouldn't hold your breath for an update to older sync versions.

I have the brand new SYNC 3 system, not the older ones. Lincoln/Ford promised an update that would deliver carplay functionality, but no timeline, so I was just curious if anyone had heard anything.

OK!!! THIS IS TOTAL BS!!! I AM SO PISSED AT LINCOLN RIGHT NOW!!!!

Note: Apple CarPlay is available on 2017 model year Lincoln vehicles with compatible SYNC 3. Owners of 2016 model year Lincoln vehicles with SYNC 3 are required to perform a software upgrade and purchase a hardware upgrade to use Apple CarPlay. Please check back on the Lincoln Owner site this summer for more information about these upgrades.

We have to purchase a hardware upgrade for a $40,000 vehicle? When I purchased my vehicle, I was promised that this would be a software update to give me the CarPlay. Now I have to buy a hardware upgrade?

Probably when the initial sync 3 development was locked for the initial release the CarPlay standard was not finalized. I could see free software upgrade but like everything related to technology hardware upgrade is at the discression of the manufacturer. Especially since it's available on a model year change. If that is the case then you open the door to other upgrades like adding brake hold to a 2016 that's available on the 2017.

I would suggest you contact a Lincoln Concierge and ask for the number of the Ford In-Vehicle Tech team. They have assisted some of us on the Sirius radio issues on the 2015's and with the MyLincoln Mobile app issues and in-car modem replacement happening now. They may have some info, or at least can take your feedback regarding what you think would be the right course for Lincoln to take regarding Cust. Svc. for this issue.
