Of late, the traditional mode of thought is that Cadillac is leading as far as domestic luxury vehicles go with Lincoln trailing behind. But recent trends show that Lincoln is the one with the momentum while Cadillac is falling behind.

There is an article on Detroit Free Press that goes into the nitty-gritty of each brands business strategies, but really the truth is in the numbers. Cadillac sold 170,750 last year compared to Lincoln's 94,474. The figure that really tells the story is Cadillac's -6.5% change from 2013 compared to Lincoln's 15.6% improvement over 2013.

Things could change a bit from the way they are going right now, but if this continues, Lincoln will very soon bypass Cadillac. Do you think that is the way that things will pan out over the next few years.

Cadillac screwed up with the pricing on it's CTS, very expensive Escalade and ELR, and an outdated SRX, has hurt the brand. Whereas Ford's success of its Fusion and Escape has allowed Lincoln to capitalize on that to offer decent options to Ford's wealthier clients.

Lincoln will gain a lot more sales volume in time, not sure if they will ever over take Cadillac. Will the new MKX do it's share to help increase sales? What will the next MXS be like? And what other style, size will join the lineup? I hope they do it completely right this time around.

I like the looks of the Caddy cars, I just could not warm up enough to their interiors and functions, to let go of 60K. Only the XTS had a good AWD setup. Their back up camera is useless, steering wheel wood area does not heat, front seats too lacking of heated areas. SRX was too dated and lacking options.

As for the future I would like to see both of them do well enough to take a fair share of sales back from the Asian and Germans! I do feel Lincoln will do well enough to be back in the game for good.
