Cadillac isn't worried by Lincoln

Back in the day, Cadillac and Lincoln battled each other for dominance in the domestic car market. Oh, how times have changed though. Cadillac has gone on record no to say that it no longer considers Lincoln to be a direct competitor in today's market.

As if to put salt in the wound, Cadillac vice president of global design Ed Wellburn said "I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," he told Car & Driver.

Do you think that a Lincoln is closer to a Buick than a Cadillac now? Is Cadillac just underestimating Lincoln?

good for cadillac. Obviously Cadillac has forgotten that they were just as lackluster as Lincoln up until 2008 when GM had to get serious about its product offerings.

This is pure bulletin board material. Something for the boys at Lincoln to hang on their wall and draw inspiration from.

Cadillac also thinks its competing directly with BMW, Mercedes and Tesla. So I do believe a big part of this is an inflated ego ;)
Good to hear this.
I never actually though Lincoln should be worried of any car maker stealing their shine. Lincoln is still a very unique car maker, people will always continue to buy their products.
Lincoln has some ways to go before they can go up with some of the newer Cadillacs in terms of driving experience

But both of them are luxury cars that compete in similar price ranges (with some Cadillacs being more expensive)

Buick to me is a lower end luxury brand competing with Acura and some lower end Lexus, Infiniti, and Lincolns.
the upcoming next generation MKS will bring lincoln much closer to getting on Cadillac's level. Currently, I wouldn't put any of their cars up against a Cadillac.
I don't know what Cadillac is boasting about really, for all their performance and driving dynamics Cadillac is moving ATS at roughly the same amount of cars per month as Lincoln moves the MKZ...

AHAHA, no really good for them, for all their superiority they can't even out do Lincoln in terms of volume
The MKC is a great cross over and Cadillac doesn't have any vehicle in that segment. I just think it is a matter of time before Lincoln catches up with an updated model line up. Once Lincoln gets that down, then it can really push itself in terms of technological innovation and making plays to compete with the top dogs.

agreed. they just have superiority syndrome.
although cadillac doesn't have a direct competitior to the MKZ, the ATS can always be compared.

the ATS is the MKZ competitor, they are the same size and sell in the same segment....

@Hunter caddy does have an MKC competitor its called the SRX and its junk, a rebadged Equinox.

Didn't even know that existed. Never seen one around before and I know they are planning a mini Escalade so I just figured they didn't have anything in that segment right now.

That just proves even more that Lincoln is doing better though. The MKC is winning against competition instead of against no competition.
Well Buick is worried about Cadillac :p

take that all mighty caddy
cool story bro

interesting thing is that cadillac isn't worried about lincoln but the SRX looks like my ass on a tuesday night compared to the MKC.
