Can “Auto Hold” be flashed by Forscan to be on by default like newer models?

Just curious because I know there are newer Ford and Lincoln models that “remembers” your auto hold settings and doesn’t reset every time you turn off the car. Of course you still have to buckle up for it to actually engage the brakes, but just want to know if it is doable for the MKCs via Forscan or any other tools.
Maybe @copbait knows?

I have never looked into it, should be pretty easy thing to dig into, I imagine it would only require a change in the APIM. Next time I hook up the scanner I’ll take a look

I'd also appreciate you looking into it. I've seen someone enabling auto-hold on a Ford Mondeo (which has never shipped with auto-hold) by swapping out the ABS module, so my guess is that the ABS is responsible for this not APIM?
Welcome to the forum @Alex_Wells. I will definitely look into it, I hope soon. By the way we have another Ukrainian member on here. I would think these cars would be difficult to get into your country, but there are at least two of you.

Thanks! I don't actually own an MKC, this was just the only relevant thread I could find. I own a Fusion Sport :)

These cars are purchased damaged from Copart/IAAI then shipped here. There are actually quite a lot of them here - 69 MKC on sale across Ukraine right now, but I believe there's at least a thousand of them in US spec here.

Haha no worries. If/when I get autohold working on my vehicle I'll scatter through as-built differences and test them and will let you know if I find anything :)

I did look through enough to figure out that if it were an option it would be somewhere in the instrument cluster versus the front controls module or the ABS module, I think....

Hey again :) I've finally got to play with it and was able to enable AutoHold on a 2017 Ford Fusion, and it remembers the setting indefinitely!

What I did:
- replaced my ABS with a K series CADS3 unit from a 2019 Ford Fusion
- enabled AutoHold in ABS through AsBuilt: 760-02-02: xxXx 0 -> 4
- enabled AutoHold indicator in the IPC
- engineered a button to toggle it on and off

The important things:
- FCIM sends "AutoHold pressed" and "AutoHold not pressed" messages, not "AutoHold enabled" and "AutoHold disabled". That means that it doesn't actually remember the state of AutoHold, it simply tells other blocks when a button is pressed
- it works without an IPC at all, so that's also not it
- I have not replaced any other block aside from ABS, so it must be the ABS block that remembers the state

I'm also guessing you could try to flash K firmware onto your ABS to try and see if it works. Otherwise you could also replace your ABS - doing it yourself is a pain in the ass, but it would be done in hours if taken to a service shop.
