We have owned our Lincoln MKC less than two months and my wife noticed a crack in the sun roof. She is the only one who drives it. Looking at the crack it does not show a pattern as if hit by an object. She took it to the dealership and they told her that it was caused by impact. She stated that she would have remembered if something hit the roof that hard to crack it. Lincoln said they ran a "test" to determine that it was not a defect and was caused by impact. How dumb do they think people are. We will never buy another car from that dealership and most likely will not buy another Lincoln.
We were die-hard Chrysler buyers until everyone started having transmission problems with their Caravans (and of course after they were out of warranty). Whe had (3) transmissions in ours - the original, one at 55K miles, and one at 77K miles. We swore we would never buy another Chrysler product ever again which is why we did not look at the Jeep Cherokee or any Mercedes before choosing the MKC.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Lincoln as I cannot believe that rocks are "falling from the sky" and causing the problem that (4) owners here are describing. If Lincoln is trying to re-establish their brand in the market, they'd better get on board and "man up" to the fact that this is a factory defect. Not standing behind your product will result in losing what might otherwise be life-long customers.
Although I wanted the panoramic roof, my wife who is the main driver of our MKC and tends to be on the more practical side than I, said that she would enjoy/use other options more. After deciding that she would go with the Select package, she chose one in platinum with the power liftgate and the climate package. But what's another $1700 (MSRP) for something that you plan to have for years? I could have pushed it, but now I'm glad that I didn't.
I sincerely hope that Lincoln takes responsibility for this problem.
