Does anyone use Dressing on there Dash ?
I had a 1988 Lincoln Mark 7 That was parked in the street & i used Armour All on the dash every week when i washed the car.
The Dash CRACKED.
The dealer said it was the Armour All.
On the bottle it said it was a protectant. I guess it wasn't.
So i wonder if it is safe to dress my dash in the MKC.
Does anyone use anything on there dash ?

From what I understand, the dash is vinyl. I am still looking for a product that will protect the vinyl dash, the exterior black plastics, etc., but will not change their appearance (i.e. leave a glossy shine).

On another thread a poster suggested Meguiar's NXT Tech Protectant. I looked all over town for it and when I couldn't find it, I finally called Meguiar's. They no longer make that product. The rep suggested Meguiar's Ultimate Black.

Another poster suggested 303 Aerospace. I think that can only be purchased online.

The dealership suggested a product that they carry, but they were out of it. Now they have it in, but they are too far away to make a trip just for that. We have a Ford dealership that's closer so when we're in that area, we may try to get the product (sorry can't remember what it's called) from them if we don't find something else first.

Our MKC is garaged, but we have a dash cover that we use when we're out and about, especially for the summer as it gets very hot where we live.

I want the Glossy Shine !!!!
Okay, then look for a sealant/protectant that will provide that. A lot of people suggest Meguiar's products, so I'd give them a call (1-800-347-5700) and ask them what you can use that will leave a glossy finish. If they tell you to buy Ultimate Black, please post back.

TIA
I received a small sample (2 pack) of leather/vinyl cleaner and protectant when I purchased my MKC. Haven't used it yet though.
I've been using Mequiar's Natural Shine and protectant since August on the MKc. It's the same product I am using on my 2004 Corvette for the last 11 years.
ps it's good for vinyl, rubber and plastic.
I have been testing a couple of products. Been using 303 Aerospace on the Focus ST and the more you use it the glossier it becomes and really helps keep dust, etc. down. I starting using Klasse vinyl, leather and plastic cleaner protectant on the MKC vinyl and like that it has no gloss and so far has been excellent on keeping dust buildup down. I have used Klasse all in one and gloss wax on my collector cars and have loved it. Have to buy online and the cheapest I have found is concours direct, www.concoursdirct.com.
goepfrich:
Did you use it on the Vette's Dashboard ?
I want the gloss but am concerned since Armour All cracked my Mark's dash.

Does the 303 really shine because i read it has a Matte Finish.
Yes I use it on all the interior. It has a UV blocker and Scotchgard and leaves a natural, not a glossy shine.
I also get it on line at Amazon.
As stated, 303 Aerospace, the more times you apply the glossier it gets. It also doesn't leave a residue .

Thanks so much for posting this. We were thinking of ordering it, but the increase in gloss over time rules it out for us.

I saw Klasse Cleaner/Protectant (vinyl, rubber, leather, & plastic) on sale for $9.99 (250 ml) on a different site. Don't know whether that's a good price or not.
Ok, to all of you on the thread that feel compelled to put a product up there:
Is there one that does not throw off vapor that slimes the inside of the windshield?

I am very picky about visibility and found that "[email protected]" really caused problems this way.
So I stopped years back-flat dash finish has not bothered me much (But I sure do it when prepping a car for sale!:)
We've never felt the need to apply any product to protect the dash of any of our vehicles. Regular cleaning without harsh products has been all the maintenance that was needed to retain the original look of our dash boards over the life time of our vehicles. Soft lint-free cloths that are damp with water are sufficient to clean a dash.

I think I'm kind of leaning toward this also. I think this might be one area that just needs regular wiping with a damp cloth/dusting. Although our MKC is garaged, our Lexus wasn't for several years. I can't remember the last time anything was done to the dash and there are no cracks in it whatsoever and the car is 15 years old.

We do live where it gets hot in the summer and when we're out and about we use a windshield cover, if for nothing else, to keep the car cool. I'm thinking that is about all the protection that our dash will need.
I keep a Swiffer pad in the glovebox for the occasional dusting. Works great!
i like the Swiffer idea....my wife swiffers our whole house with those things LOL!!!!! The static charge in them might just be good enough to pull up all the loose dust that settles there....will try it, thanks!
