I am a new 2016 MKC owner (1 week). I was reading the Owners Manual and on pg 336 and pg 338 it mentions a flat tire retainer strap that is located on the jack base. I do not have a strap anywhere around the spare tire and jack. Did anyone else receive one?

The other question I have is what is the full size key used for, other than unlocking the door, for which it is really unnecessary . I am not talking about the removable key blade inside the remote control (intelligent access key).

I don't think that's what he's describing Ken....he's aware of the blade key inside the fob....which is why I asked if he could post a pic of this "full sized key".

I had one (big key) in my initial key set but recently they had to "swap" my keys to try to fix a problem and now I no longer have that key but I know what he's talking about. I thought it was to lock glove box?

Some of the obvious problems we are seeing here is a cross section of different years....which is why it's a good idea for members to fill in their signature. I have read issues other members are having that DO not apply to my model year.....apparently, the modem recall does not apply to my model year,a year difference and look at some members issues with their modems being recalled. That tells me manufactures are trying to "stay on top" of developing issues as they become known to them.

That looks like the one inside the fob....with a black handle attached. Have you tried using it to unlock your doors?

I never received a separate key like that one in the pic.

I did not receive one of those either, but I notice his fob also doesn't have the button for the power liftgate. desgnr, is your MKC a Premiere trim without the power liftgate? If that is the case, it would make sense that this key is ostensibly for the liftgate.

Although, I forgot about the glove box lock - a separate key for that would make sense without having to pop open the fob every time you want to lock/unlock the glovebox...Lol, guess that proves I never lock mine.

That is exactly the full key that I was asking about. And you are probably right about it for the glove box. I have the dark interior and did not realize that the glove box was lockable.

Any thoughts on why there is no tire hold down strap at the base of the jack?

I would poise that same exact question to your dealer. maybe at one point it was taken out during service and they forgot to replace it.....I'm just guessing here.
Do you have a spare tire or the inflator pump?

IF the 2016 glove box actually locks,I don't think I ever got a key for it, actually all I got was a pair of black fobs and that's it, interesting...I have no reason to lock that pocket anyways...

The full size key does fit the glove box and locks/unlocks it so that must be its main function. Yes, it works on the doors too, but that is a redundant function.

I do have a full spare tire but no inflator pump. I did ask (by email) the sales manager that sold me the car but have not heard back. The car has not been serviced yet as it is only a week old. If I do not hear back from him tomorrow I will call. It sounds like other MKC owners do have a flat tire retainer strap.
