So we are going getting ready for vacation and our typical vacation car is a Ford Flex which does not get as good of mpg as the MKC. So I installed the cargo carrier on the MKC. What do you think…. To big or just right

Unfortunately gas mileage took a nose dive with the cargo box on. I guess we will be driving the flex for vacation

you might want to try a cargo rack on the hitch and keep the load low and not change the wind drag that much.
That is a great idea. I need to look for a factory hitch plate. I don’t like the look of A/M hitches

So I typically drive with a pretty heavy foot on the excelerator when I takeoff and go about eight over the speed limit. I have since started driving right at the speed limit and am more gentle on my takeoff, I am now averaging about 26.5 miles a gallon with a 50/50 Hwy to city ratio vs 22.5 mpg before. I figure that’s not too bad at all, thanks to the high gas prices I realize this car can be pretty economical
