Just want to say hello to everyone from NYC and happy holidays!
I recently placed an order for the MKC to serve as a new DD. I wanted a compact SUV so i can give it to my dad in about 1,5-2 years (whenever his RAM 1500 lease runs out), anyway i test drove alot of different compact SUV's such as X3, X4 (including X4M40i), NX 200t (F sport only, regular is straight up UGLY IMHO), Range rover Evoque, LR Discovery Sport.
I had to meet a certain price point because my dad just does not want to pay more as he really doesn't give a flying fly what to drive, it's me who wanted something luxury and not a honda/toyota/nissan/ford/chevy class of compact SUV's.
Now check out my Lexus experience. BTW If ANY of you are in NY/NJ Area ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO TO Tri-County Lexus on Rt 46. You have been WARNED! Shadies dealershipi have ever encountered! And i used to sell cars long time ago so i know how car sales can be shady!
Anways,
I was ready to make the deal on the NX 200 F sport because on my test drive i was offered an amazing price (i guess bait tactics) that non of my leasing broker buddies could even touch. A week later when i went to that lexus dealer my sales person was busy with different people so they gave me some kid whos hands were shaking. I was wondering if they were shaking for the BS that he was passing or because he was new (He claimed he was new). Kid asked for $18,000!!!! DOWN on a $47k NX lol.. I was like really? are you sure you are asking for a down payment? His answer was yes. I was like ok, you manager wants to play games, tell him hes going to have to give me 18k for me to take that POS in that case. I guess he was nervous and he misheard me, so his math was $18,000 - $1,800=$16,800/36=450/month. At that moment i said, so you are talking about TOTAL lease cost (TLC)? Again he said no, thats a down payment. I clarified what car he is attempting to sell a 47K NX or a $150,000 G63 AMG to me? He said NX. Ok now i tell him listen you do this car for 399 and we have a deal (thats what i was offered during test drive on a 45k car)
Now his manager comes in, one of those shady looking arab/God knows what type of dude with a nasty attidude that you want to just elbow him in the nose.
Now this manager is trying to tell me that 18K is a DOWN payment and thats the official promotion from lexus and best deal ever. Again i asked if he means TLC and not a down payment. At this point i again reminded him we are talking about a 47k car, not a $150k G63. To make this much shorter at this point he started pissing me off especially after he said that lexus is on the same level as a MB and Audi (which by every review lexus is last, especially with GS350) anyway we just somewhat argued i told him he doesnt know how to sell cars, he said i dont know how to ngotiate and i walked out pretty much.
Mind you I confirmed with the initial salesman if the deal was real before i came back. thats what pissed me off is that they really have 0 regard for your time.
BLUF: Embarassment to lexus as a Brand.
The same day i called my Lincoln dealer and place an order for the MKC.
I will probably get the X4M40i once i give the MKC to my dad but for now i was offered an amazing deal on the MKC that i could not refuse. I custom ordered the car Nov 31, 2016, it was built Dec 16 and now is scheduled for delivery in the first week of 2017! Pretty sweet!
What i ordered:
2017 MKC Reserve.
White platinum,
Ebony Interior (although should have went with Hazelnut i think)
2.3T AWD,
Climate Package,
19" Wheels,
THXII audio with HD Radio.
MSRP was $47,010 and North East automatic discount of $745 for a final MSRP $46,265.
The only package i did not get was technology package. Front parking sensors would be nice i guess, the rest of options are useless to me.
Anyway, sorry for the long read folks!
P.S. The only reason why i would pick NX over the MKC is 2-3 inches of more space in the back seat behind the driver (VERY minor issue since 97% of time i'm going to be alone or with a girl here and there) and a little bit more comfortable drivers seat.
I felt like the seat cushion in the MKC is just an inch or 2 too short. Anyone else? I'm 6'3'' so i hope its just a matter of getting used to and finding that comfortable position.
