bought a 2016 last week the head unit have ver 1.0 on it. I registered with Lincoln, bought a brand new flash drive, down loaded 3.0 and installed it. After the install I did not notice anything different. Brought the flash drive back to the computer to register the update. Went back to the car and the screen is black, nothing works, audio, hvac, nav ... nothing. So I guess I'm off to the dealer tomorrow.

DRM:

I had the update done by the dealer but I thought you had to drive or at least run the vehicle for at least 20 minutes before the update finished initializing.

It was a 1/2 hour drive to the dealer this morning. The unit did not start working in that time frame. I was the first at the door but did not have an appointment. Their shuttle took me to work, we'll see what they come back with when they call.

hope it works out for you.
Covered under Warr, parts on order, sounds as if it's a significant part of the display screen. I should be able to take it back to them on Weds. They do not believe that it had anything to do with the upgrade. I would be surprised if it wasn't, either way if it was a bad part glad I got taken care of under warr.

What needs to be replaced is the APIM.

The SYNC computer, which Ford calls the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), is housed separately from the head unit, called the Audio Control Module (ACM), and interfaces with all vehicle audio sources as well as the high-speed and medium-speed vehicle CAN-buses.

It definitely appears to be pretty important..just glad it's going to be fixed, no one likes problems...let us know what happens!

I have the MKC back, 3.0 has been installed and the new parts. I have more features than I had before but still do not have Android Auto. They tell me on the 16 MKC I need a new USB module/hub and a re-flash to make that work. Parts are ordered and it will be about $300. I'll take it back in next week.
