In 1990 we purchased a Ford Taurus with the Instaclear windshield feature. It was basically an electrically heated windshield that worked great on clearing ice and show quickly. From the outside it looked like a aircraft windshield. Now on my 2016 MKC it has the heated wiper park which works OK (we just got our first big snow in Chicago this year) but why not offer something like Instaclear? In Europe Ford offers a feature called "Quickclear" why not offer it here? Below is a video on the feature:

This is a thin film metal technology that works great.
Tradeoffs: radar detectors will be blinded, cost when that gravel truck puts some bullet holes in it.

I'm not eager for a metal film windshield that interferes with radar detectors and EZPass and other RFID cards.

Are Brits just plain dumb? An ice scaper costs a couple of bucks, credit cards and bare hands? LOL

Still have to scrape the side windows...
