Front Park assist can be turned off, but comes back on when the car is started again. And for us, it comes on a couple feet before the point where we park the MKC in the garage. It's become too annoying to tolerate any longer.

Does anyone know of a way to get it shut off or made much quieter?

Yes, that is the procedure for turning it off. However, as I said, in our MKC, turning it off only lasts until the engine is shut off. Upon restarting the car, Front Park Assist is once again back on. I'm looking for a way to keep it from automatically turning back on.

We're old too, but thoroughly spoiled by my Cadillac. For front park assist, the dash displays 1 to 5 distance bars each for front-right, front-center and front-left, and instead of a beeper we have it set to rumble the Safety Alert Seat.

Our garage isn't as deep as we'd like (and not as deep as we'd planned, but that's a different story), so there's about 4" between "far enough into the garage to open the tailgate with the garage door closed" and "too far forward to comfortably walk around the front of the car". An old shuttlecock hangs from the ceiling to help us hit the right spot.

But, the MKC's front park assist goes off about a foot away from where we want to be. And it's way too loud. It would be fine if they used the same thing as the tailgate closing alarm.

We moved recently and don't have our shuttlecock/tennis ball hanging yet. Our garage is very tight so my husband has to let it beep like crazy, stop and put the car in N, and then R so he can look at the camera and see where the rear end of the car is before he shuts her off. I will agree it is a bit of a noisy procedure. But with the human aging process I am very grateful for some of the MKC features such as the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping etc. Sure less worries for me when we are out together. I was the technology (he called it nagging) before we bought the MKC. I will have hubby turn off our front sensor next time he is out, and see if it stays off for the next trip. I will report back.

Not sure if this would work, since it doesn't appear you can permanently turn this feature off. Can the sensors be covered up with tape discs that would keep them from working? If so then order a can of matching spray from Paint Scratch. Paint them and apply

measure the sensor size you need, go to a quick sign shop and pick out a color vinyl to match and see if they will cut out the circles for you on the vinyl cutter.
Take all of 5 minutes and they may do it for free, get extras just in case,

Center console screen, Settings button, located bottom right side of the Home button. System prompt volume, I know it adjusts and holds the volume for the reverse and cross path sensors. I would think it would also control the front sensors as well. Quite a range there, ours is set mid volume, which is kinda too loud. See what yours is set at, hopefully resetting to low may be a lot more tolerable and solve the default dilemma when restarting the engine. Let us know.

Switching the Systems Off and On
You can temporarily switch off one or both
systems in the information display. See
General Information (page 111). When you
switch off the Blind Spot Information System,
you will not receive alerts and the information
display will display a system off message.
The yellow alert indicator in the outside
mirror will also flash twice. The system
switches back on whenever you switch the
ignition on.
You can also have one or both systems
switched off permanently at an authorized
dealer. Once switched off, the system can
only be switched back on at an authorized

It appears the "both systems" refers to the blind spot and cross-traffic systems, but I do plan to get to the dealer at some point to ask if anything can be done with front park. I did experiment with covering the front sensors with painter's tape, and that did stop the noise. But, since they are also used for collision warning, I'd hope for a more targeted solution.

Matt you don't want to mess with the collision warning. That system on our former Lexus SUV saved our lives on the freeway in Los Angeles 4 or 5 years ago. We were going 80 mph and a big flat deck truck swerved in front of us and then the truck in front of him put on his brakes. The collision warning applied the brakes before I could think or see what the **** was happening. We are alive to tell the tale. I didn't even know that system worked like that. My husband looked at me and said "good reactions!" I looked at him and said, "it wasn't me. Must have been God." LOL.

I think collision warning is driven by the windshield camera...best I can tell with my limited experience.

I have reprogrammed every module in my car. My setting that I changed to enable Front sensors was in the APIM, and the IPC but I think you would be able to change only the APIM (unless it throws a code). You should find in 7D0-04-01 "01030c001b07" That is what i changed in mine and it worked. The coding for rear sensors only (no park assist either since that is part of the front sensor) you change the 3 in the 4th place to a 1 and change the check sum (last two digits) to 05. I don't know if you are willing to risk bricking your car by making changes but I have royally messed with coding and as long as I had the original coding did not brick any modules.
