My wife bought a 2017 MKC last fall. Since then, I have been trying to get someone at Lincoln to tell me where to place jack stands after the vehicle has been jacked up. The salesperson, manager of the service department where we bought the vehicle as well as multiple other service technicians and managers, and the "concierge hotline" have all told me to use the jack points pointed to in the owner's manual. When I point out I can't put the jack stand there while the jack is already in that location, I get answers ranging from "we always use lifts so we don't have that problem" to "For liability reasons I can't give you any more information". I contacted the factory in KY where the vehicle was assembled with the question, but got no reply.

I purchased the 2017 MKC Workshop Manual (aka factory service manual) DVD when we purchased the vehicle. Section “100-02 Jacking and Lifting” of the manual states
“ WARNING: Never get underneath a vehicle that is supported only by a jack. The jack could unintentionally lower. Always support vehicle with floor stands. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.” There is no further information on how to accomplish that.

Does anyone have more information on where to put the jack stands? Has anyone taken a crack at it with their best guess and if so, where did you put the stands?

I don't know if this is the proper forum for this question, so if this isn't the best choice I apologize in advance and please let me know a better location for next time.

Thanks,
Rick

Its usually at the ends of each rocker panel (under the doors) for unibody vehicles. You should see a hole with perhaps an arrow molded in the lower trim,, Its where the jack would go.

I understand where the jack point is. After I use it to jack up the vehicle, I can't use that same location for the jack stand.

My question is where the jack stand should be placed when the jack point is occupied by the jack.

I generally raise the car from one jacking point high enough to insert a jack stand at the other end on the same side. Depending on the jack stand's base, you may get it close enough to the jack lifting point to lower the vehicle on the other stand.
