This is pretty hilarious. Very direct and aggressive strategy from Lincoln and it appears to work, but that kinda shows that the gloves have come off at this point. I think that Lincoln feels the momentum and wants to catch up and succeed Cadillac. I'll be very interested to see how this rivalry develops moving forward. I'm sure that Cadillac won't take it lying down.

Wow, that is pretty sassy.

The GM Authority Take
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as they say.
On a more serious note, we’d strongly encourage Lincoln to focus on building true luxury cars deserving of the luxury car moniker, rather then pushing warmed-over Fords. Because unlike Cadillac, every single Lincoln Motor Company (ahem, brand) on sale today is available within the Blue Oval lineup.

I was reading a review on the new Cadillac ATS-V the other day and Car and Driver said "Don’t expect to spend much less for an ATS-V than a comparable M3 or C63 AMG. Cadillac wants prices that better match the Germans’, even if this means selling fewer cars and an even smaller number of Vs in the near term. It’s part of a corporate strategy to raise Cadillac’s prestige, including moving its headquarters to New York."

So basically that means they don't want to sell as many cars, so basically they want to be more prestigious so they'll just sell less cars. That also means they think they are so fantastic that they think people will justify their product over an established german marque. A little too balsy, coming from a company that we were paying to bail out a mere 5 years ago. Is the Lincoln lineup any better? **** no, but their corporate strategy sure is.

I know that the buyers of the competition will probably disagree, but we liked the exterior/interior appearance of the MKC far better than any of the competitors. Obviously you're going to want to buy a car that you think looks good, but the other big selling factor for us was that we saw how Lincoln delivered a lot more bang for the buck.

There are a lot of buyers who will pay a lot more money and get less for the sake of driving a particular import or obviously even a Cadillac, but luckily for Lincoln we weren't one of them. Now for reliability.....that's a whole different ball game, but I don't think Cadillac has anything over Lincoln in that department; the jury is still out on the MKC vs the imports.

Cadillac sedans are nicely designed but a bit overpriced. The SUVs however, are really not that impressive. The MKC looks much better than the SRX. It really isn't even close. They are all proud of having unique platforms for Cadillac, but that doesn't really mean anything if the car is still ugly.
