Hello from Ontario. I currently have three Toyota vehicles in the driveway, including a 2004 Sienna (extra vehicle, driven by sons when home or for hauling bulky items), a 2013 Rav4 Limited (mine) and a 2014 Corolla S (my wife's). Prior to acquiring to the Sienna, we had Ford Aerostar vans for 15 years. We switched to Toyota when the Aerostar was discontinued and the replacement vehicle (Windstar) didn't have enough room for a family of seven to travel. We have had good reliability and satisfaction with these vehicles, the dealer is a five minute drive from our house and the Rav4 and Corolla were built in factories located within an hour's drive of home.

However, we have come to the point where we would like a somewhat more luxurious vehicle and one that is available with an interior that isn't black. We preferred the beige interior we previously had with a Corolla but Toyota Canada doesn't provide Canadian customers with the same choices offered in the USA. When the Rav4 was introduced in 2013 I fell in love with the red exterior and beige interior combination that was tested by some automotive journalists. Unfortunately, I had to settle for a black interior which some other people undoubtedly prefer but we do not.

I also like to be able to tow utility trailers and want a 2,000+ lb towing capacity. The Rav4 is limited to 1,500 lb. The Sienna is good for 3,000+ lb but at 12+ years and 230,000+ km is overdue to be replaced. After reviewing the choices available that would meet our current requirements, I am leaning strongly towards leasing a 2017 MKC Reserve early next year, but haven't ruled out an MKX which also happens to be built nearby. The Ford/Lincoln dealer is also close by and has been in business for over 40 years. I have considered Lexus but the dealer is out of town and I am not excited about the current styling - the NX has a tiny trunk and the new RX (another vehicle built close to home) isn't much better - not as good as the previous version in my opinion. Besides, I would like a vehicle that will work with Android Auto.

I have been following the forum since January but would like to participate further while we narrow down our vehicle choice over the next few months.

I use my MKC to haul our boat, which weighs probably 2500 all in.
Although I have not seen an explicit recommendation, I would not tow a 2000+ trailer without that trailer having very competent surge or electric braking.
Keep us posted on your decision process!

Go with the MKX with the 3.7L V6, it has more torque and HP on Regular gas and can tow up to 3500 lbs. IMHO it is better suited for towing.

If money were no object, I honestly would get the MKX. I came from an Edge to MKC. The MKC is much smaller -- which isn't all bad, because it's more fun to drive. However, ergonomics were much better in my Edge (I'm not tall either).
