Why does the Miles to Empty warning come on at 37 mi left to empty but yet when I fill up my tank is full at only 12 gals. It's a 15.5 gal tank right? What am I missing?

I just purchased a 2019 Nautilus Black label, 2800 miles and at my 1st fill up at 71 miles to empty it only took 11 gallons. It’s supposed to be a 18.5 gallon tank, it seems this has been an issue with this platform for some time, btw in only says 288 miles to empty after a fill up.

I am now doing pure highway and have been getting between 23-25MPG I peaked with 28MPG but I might had accidentally put in high octane for that tank. The most the gauge read was 389 to empty average has been 360ish. My city driving would only get me 280 on average.

I saw plus 400 on two fill ups. I don’t think it actually equated to that but it was interesting to see
