Starting a new thread to discuss some of the new SUV's coming out and the MKC/MKX competition.

Will start here...

Lamborghini Urus set to be world’s fastest SUV | The National

Its obviously not in the same class as our MKC's but Wow is this beautiful..and set to be the fastest SUV!

The interior is "interesting"

What are your favorites/dreams/likes/dislikes on some of the new SUV's coming out 2016-2017?

Yeah, I sure can see this baby sitting in my garage...I think this is the same SUV you posted a few days back, only these are interior pics....stunning!

So futuristic looking...
Those seats don't look crazy comfortable but never know until you sit in them and I doubt I'll ever sit in one to find out....:frown

The outside(shape) almost looks like the original MKC concept. I love the concepts without door handles. When are they going to do away with those? I hate anything that sticks out. The cars look so much cleaner.

We were pretty taken by the Jaguar F-Pace when we saw it at last year's auto show in Detroit. If it were out when we were looking, we might not be in an MKC now (though our MKC has had zero notable issues and we're very happy with it). I'm curious to see how it reviews, I'm also a little wary of Jaguar infotainment, but I think I saw it will have Android auto so maybe that's fine.

I think a new redesign of the Volvo xc60 is coming too. If it's like the new xc90 that could also be intriguing.

Definitely like to see an f-pace too. They have a very cool wearable key fob among many other options.

Ive always been impressed with the tech and safety of volvos but just have never liked their look..too much like a station wagon.

Like the new Infiniti coming out too but it looks like it going to be on the small side like the MB GLA.

Took a quick look at the new GLC. Love MB interiors but a little on the fence with how their big screen sits outside of the dash like it does... Overall like the design change over the old GLK but now it kind of looks like all the others.

The new Audi coming looks awesome too. Think it's going to be at the Detroit show coming up, wish we could go.

I've researched the F-Pace and visited a Jaguar dealer that gave me a very good overview of Jaguar & what info they had on the F-Pace. I'm considering trading my C in for 1 sometime next year or the year after.

The current generation MKC deserves more than 285hp and more than a 6 speed automatic transmission.

I would buy another MKC if Lincoln offers it in the next (2nd) generation with the 10 speed transmission and the 2.7L V6 Turbo.

Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche all got a 3.0T V6.

Was pleased to see MB will be releasing a GLC 450 next year with 360HP.
I haven't had time to test drive the current 240 hp GLC (which would be comparable to our 2.0s) to see how it compares. I have a 2.3 and definitely don't want to go down in power but I'm curious to see how the 9 speed transmission translates.

The GLC 450 AMG Sport is a very attractive car for its sportiness, albeit the price will go way much higher toward the $60k. For that kinda of money, I would get a Porsche Macan instead.

The current MKC, on the other hand, is totally a different proposition. The car's price fits its size with a best all-around package (including CCD & the use of regular 87 octane fuel) @ around $45k.

Pricewise, a GLA45 AMG can now be had for around $50k with no CCD like, and requires premium gas in a much smaller platform.

So going beyond the $50k territory, the Germans really have the upper hand, unless Lincoln can offer more. :confused:

Oh the macan :smile My BIL has a cayenne but I actually like the smaller macan.

My husband who is not a big MB fan saw the GLE AMG when we went to look at the GLC. It was all blacked out with sick wheels. He totally wants one. What a beauty. And the tech....:smile. I want one too.

I tell you it was hard for me to plunk down the money (I have fully loaded except for 20 inch wheels) for a Lincoln. It honestly was the biggest stumbling block to buying it. I had no problem plunking that much down and then some for the Q5 or an MB (gla was too small and did not like GLK) or BMW or Land Rover. But I just couldn't see spending that much when I could go over to the German brands for similar coin...

The fact that I could get a good price (although the best deal I got in car search was actually for an Infiniti) did help me to buy it in a very small way but not because of the money savings overall but it was my perceived "value" of Lincoln and the quality. i felt I could "take the risk" because of that little bit of savings (and it wasn't much over the q5 I was going to get) and it helped me to take the chance on Lincoln because I was paying closer to my perceived value.

Boy did I get burned unfortunately if you follow my posts LOL. So far instead of increasing my perceived value of Lincoln it just keeps plummeting. :(

Although I agree a power version of the MKC would be awesome, I think the 2.3 MKC holds its own rather well compared to the German options. In terms of acceleration and horsepower it actually outperforms the Q5 and the GLC.

2016 Porsche Macan 3.0T V6:
HP = 340
Torque = 339
0-60 - 5.2 seconds

2016 BMW X3 3.0T V6:
HP = 300
Torque = 300
0-60 = 5.8 seconds

2016 Lincoln MKC 2.3T:
HP = 285
Torque = 305
0-60 = 6.1 seconds

2016 Audi Q5 3.0T V6:
HP = 272
Torque = 295
0-60 = 6.4 seconds

2016 MB GLC 2.0T inline 4 (no 3.0T V6 option):
HP = 241
Torque = 274
0-60 = 7.45 seconds

The Por$che is definitely the ride to beat, but in terms of bang for the buck, I think the MKC really does well. It would be great to see a 2.7 Ecoboost option (puts out 330 HP in the MKX) to compete with the German performance options like the AMG and the SQ5.

Yeah, that AMG GLC option is going to roar. Makes me wonder why US manufacturers don't have a Performance line like MB has with AMG, BMW with their M cars,
and Audi with the S and RS lines.

Speaking of beefed up Bimmers, it kinda looks like BMW is going to bring out M versions of the X3.

"...the BMW X3 M40i will be powered by a 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine producing 360 hp, while the X3 M is expected to inherit the S55 3.0 liter engine
from the new M3/M4 which outputs 425 horsepower."
—bmwblog.com

The more these options appear, the more I think companies like Lincoln will see that performance SUV's are more than a small niche market.

In terms of the under 300 HP options, I think it's going to be interesting to see what the new Buick Envision will bring to the table. Pretty sure we'll see it at
next week's Detroit Auto Show.

Are you going to the auto show expresso?
Like that brown interior.
No, but I wish I were -- even though they have it in January. Been to many car shows, but never been to the one in Detroit. Used to live in Geneva, Switzerland and their International Motor Show (one of the big ones) was something I looked forward to every year. It was so massive. It was like one gigantic playground with thousands of rides (no pun intended).

We go the NY one every year which is pretty big but thought we would take our son out there (he's a little car fanatic-imagine that :smile) sometime. I assume since its in the "motor city" that there would be lots of car museums and car stuff to do and see..

We cant go this year because we are actually headed down your way in a few weeks for 10 days of Naples and Disney. Then already had another trip planned for skiing out west for March. It will have to wait..

Anyone have suggestions for when we do go?

You lived in Switzerland?!? How cool! We love to travel. Our motto is "We'd rather do things than have things" My husband got to go a while back. His companies buy million dollar laser machines and other machines from Bystronics and since they buy so many the company flew them out for an all expense paid trip for vacation and to visit the factory/headquarters. He still talks about a particular scary gondola ride to the top of a mountain...We weren't married yet so I didn't get to go :crying

Would love to go that international show..wow!

Naples and Disney! Non-stop fun although two very different places. We could almost meet up in Naples since we have a place on Marco Island but have rented it for the winter.

So can you do the NY show in one day? Or do you need more time? That's another of the shows I'd like to see. LA as well. Miami is a small show but I still enjoy it.

Yes, I lived in Switzerland. Awesome place. Growing up I lived in seven countries -- was one of those third culture kids growing up in all sorts of different places because of my dad being transferred all over. Totally enjoyed it.

Too bad you didn't get to go to Switzerland back then, but now you have the perfect excuse to be taken there. It's just not fair that your husband has been there and you haven't.

Plus you get to see all the Europe-only cars. I think every other car there is a station wagon. That's not an exaggeration.

I know the C platform really well. When I heard 2.3L twin turbo AWD with CCD on regular gas, I put my money down back in 2014 without a test drive!!! :grin
(Hint: MKC =Mazdaspeed3 [Amati] )

I've never said the MKC is bad. It should get better next time because Cadillac is bringing its 2.0T to 268hp. The 2.7T V6 would be the perfect iteration of what should be coming next.

I had 2 GTI VR6 (2.8L) before, and boy I can't imagine something like that with a twin turbo & 10-speed transmission on a "Global C" platform. Yes, I'm drooling here really bad... :wink

You can do the NY show in a day for the most part. Every year it has gotten more and more crowded. This year it was almost impossible to stop and look at the cars..the whole entire floor/flood of people just kept you moving. I cant even explain it. Very hard to really look at anything in detail. Plus our son was with us and I was so worried about losing him in the crowd LOL He kept seeing cars he likes and darting off in between the people (like I couldn't). But you could do it in a day. Some of the "attractions" were time consuming if you wanted to do them (Jeep ride was a 90 minute wait) We didn't look into any of the test drives.

How awesome that you got to actually live in 7 countries and not just visit. You really get to absorb and experience the cultures. Id ask you more about it but I don't want to get called out for getting off the topic of cars :grin

Did you ski in Switzerland? My husband just told me he went up to the James Bond look out on the gondola when he went on that trip...cool :nerd Have you been there?
