My brand MKC select 2.0 FWD has an uncomfortable vibration. I can feel it even when driving on brand new asphalt! The vibration resonates so much I can feel it in my feet, in the steering wheel and even on the center console. Any ideas what might be causing this? I have almost 200 miles on it now, I heard something about flat spots in the tires but that should have broken in.

Originally I thought it was just the concrete expansion joints in California freeways, or that I had to adjust from my Lexus ES ride to that of an SUV (believe you me, the redesigned (2013+) ES does NOT have a smooth ride the way the older ones did).. But then I drove it over some brand new asphalt last night and noticed the same thing so I figure something must be wrong.

Driveline is a good guess....are these vibrations felt at all speeds above 40KM?....Ask the dealer to swap out your wheels and try it,preferably over a stretch of road you know it vibrates on....It could be something as simple as out of round tires, balancing,a whack to the driveshaft(s)....wheel bearings, callipers that are not fully releasing....do you feel the car pulling to one side? the more info you provide the easier it becomes to diagnose ....

I would start with a tire swap also. Belt shifting and layer separation have no visual clues. If this does not eliminate the shake, the dealer ought to inspect CV joints and all mounting points of front suspension.

midnite cruser: that actually happened to me when I bought new tires for my car....one of the tires had problems with deformed belt....rode like I was driving on rocks....once they replaced that tire, it was smoother as silk.
