My wife bought a 2017 MKC Reserve a month ago. The salesman set up her phone for the car's modem but we never tried it. Last week we attempted to use the phone app but it wouldn't lock/unlock or start the car. Also the location displayed was significantly out of date. I took it to the dealership where we utilized both our phones going through the process of deleting and installing the app from the phones as well as deleting and installing the car from the app. None of this worked so after about 15 minutes of troubleshooting, the service manager gave me a loaner and kept our car to troubleshoot. Got a call the next day that the modem was now functioning after installing a software update.

There is a bit of a time delay for the initial setup. I remember having to reinstall the app a couple of times to get it working.. The good news is they just released an updated version of the app with additional features - Gas stations and prices near your location etc... It seems to get better every time there is a new release.

I recall seeing a message when I installed the (Android) app that it would take up to 24 hours to be active. It has worked fine since. I need to check out the July 24 update.

It was about 3 weeks after the salesman connected her phone to the modem before we actually checked functionality to discover it wasn't working. It was definitely not an issue where we were trying to use the app before things had processed through the system and created an account. I'm not sure what software version they loaded into the MKC's modem, but that was definitely the fix. As soon as the software update was done, they called me and had me try the app and it was functioning.

I love how the nearby gas prices can be plotted on a map in the new app. You can also move the map and see prices further away than the initial 2 mile radius it seems to use. I always like to check the price at a station about 5 miles away which always seems to be the lowest in the immediate area. This morning it says $2.09, while the same brand is $2.22 just down the road from me. Much better than looking at a list - which you can also select if you like lists.

The gas app could be useful when I am out of town. However, it does not display Costco gas near where I live and is always the cheapest. I wonder what the criteria are for including or not including gas stations?

I checked stations around me, saw several with pretty low prices and knew those were incorrect. Then saw that prices were last updated over a week ago before the last bump in pump prices. Only useful if they have a way to keep it current and accurate.
