Really cool tech feature on the MKC

- Remote lock & unlock
- Control Heating & Cooling
- Remote start
- Schedule Remote start & climate settings for future dates

I thought the fact that this was included as part of the an option package was very impressive. Other car modem based systems (like Audi Connect) require a monthly service charge. I just received a brochure in the mail (I signed up for info when I went to the Philly Auto Show to see the MKC) and it turns out that this feature is for 4 years only and then a fee kicks in if you want to keep it. Bummer.

Interesting, so concurrent with warranty/the average lease.

ITs just unfortunate that semi gimmicky features like this have become the norm in the industry in order to sell a luxury vehicle. Sure its cool, but not only do people not really need features like this they BARELY use them. The luxury market has become such a joke of me too features and marketing...

Oh well, I suppose if it makes some feel progressive and connected so be it...

Yup, it seems like they just rush things out and work on perfecting them along the way. Not the most ideal thing to do on our end but i guess to them it work, they just make it "good enough "

Where I live in Iowa, the temperatures this winter reached -26F (-55F with wind chill). I travel a lot. It sure will be nice to start my car when taxiing into the terminal and have it warm when I get to it. We all know that the OEM remote starters have a range of about 100ft. Sure, I could buy an aftermarket remote starter that would offer greater range, but it would cost around $500 and I'd be carrying around two large key fobs. I certainly don't think it's overkill.:)

You can schedule the car turning on in the morning? I could see that being convenient but also a good way to get your car stolen. Is it really that hard to start your car yourself each morning?
Remote start systems are designed to start and idle only. The vehicle can't be driven without a key in the ignition and/or the appropriate remote transponder (i.e. key fob) in the car. Sure you can start your car manually, but then you do need the key/fob, and there is a much greater risk of theft without the remote system.

I have had cars with and without remote start. My cars have been garaged at home for years, so when I had it, I didn't use it much. But when I needed it, it was great to have. I think having the ability to warm or cool a car remotely is a great modern convenience. Isn't that what luxury cars are about? Comfort and convenience?

Anyone know what wireless service Lincoln is using?
I imagine that it is the same as what the Fusion Energi has which is AT&T.

The app is great. It not only starts and stops the engine, but also locks/unlocks the doors, notifies you if the alarm is tripped, locates the vehicle, and monitors vital systems. I use it all of the time and appreciate its usefulness.

Does anyone know if the ability to send a GPS location from your phone to the GPS is part of this app or is it separate or does it not exist at all?

I am coming from a BMW which has the Google map search and the ability to send from the phone to the GPS. I ordered my 2.3 AWD w/o the Reserve package so I won't be getting the MyLincoln app. I'd miss this feature.
