Hey everyone. Well, I've wanted an excuse to drive a Lincoln for a while. Sadly, it was at the expense of my 2014 Mustang GT. I recently had to have back surgery and my wife insisted I give up my still new to me 2014 ingot silver GT. But after starting to drive again after the surgery, I realized I didn't want to have to slink in and out of the Mustang. So, I looked for something with a better ride height. I had a base GT that was low on amenities so I wanted something a bit more techy and plush this time. The Mustang was my first Ford size college, as I'd driven a string of Hondas. I'm 39 now. I've had a bit of a crush on Lincolns ever since the last gen Navigator. My mother in law bought one and I always thought it was nice. Last summer she traded for an MKT Ecoboost and I was amazed when I got a turn behind the wheel.

So I knew I wanted to consider Lincoln. And I've been on a bit of a "Buy American" streak, buying the Mustang then, a few months later, a Yukon XL for the wife. She wouldn't go for a Navigator, lol. Anyway, the first car I looked at was an MKC. Wifey was NOT happy. She likes the looks of the MKC alright, but her mother has always driven Lincolns. She has the same jaded perception of Lincoln as probably most people do. So she begged me to look elsewhere.

She made me test out an Acura RDX, an Infiniti QX50, Volvo XC60, and MB GLA250. I really didn't care for any of them. I definitely didn't want another Honda. The Infiniti was a hoot to drive but the ride height was a little too low for what I was looking for. In the end, she relented, lol. I signed the papers yesterday on a 2015 MKC. It's an awd 2.3l. I don't have the sticker in front of me so forgive me if I screw up the options but I think I have the following: Select with 101A, Select Plus Package, Climate Package, Panoramic Vista Roof, and Smoked Quartz paint.

My hour long commute to work this morning was fantastic. I pray I keep this car longer than the Mustang!

Congrats on your new ride...and, it's good to see that some younger folks are buying the MKC. This is what Lincoln wanted! Since you just bought it, and it's already October, and the 16's have been out since late August, I'm a bit surprised that your dealer still had a 15. Just wondering, how many 15's did you have to chose from? Considering that they really need to get rid of the 15's, I hope you got a great deal!

Congratulations! I found your transition interesting since I've been a Mustang fan since I was a kid. The odd thing is that I still hope to have a Mustang in my future -- maybe an older one. And you can still be 'connected' to Mustangs since that 2.3L Ecoboost engine in your MKC is also a Mustang engine.

Your car sounds sweet. The Smoked Quartz looks awesome, at least in the very few I've seen. Looking forward to seeing pics!

Lol, Thanks! I know! It worked on me! And honestly, before we were seriously looking at cars, my wife had made positive remarks about the MKC. I guess it's just we we bought it, she couldn't understand why I would turn down a German or Swede for the home team. But I'm really impressed with what both Cadillac and Lincoln are doing to return to former glory.

Honestly, I didn't get a great deal at all, lol! The gave me $2k off MSRP. They don't have ANY 2016's on the lot yet in the MKC, just the new MKX. Which, if you haven't seen the new one...it's awesome! The one they had on the lot was in the base trim and was actually $1k less than the MKC I bought. But I didn't want stripper trim. But since I'd taken out the extended warranty, gap, and maintenance plan on the Mustang, they used the cancellation of that to give me another $3k off.

I'm in a metro area of 450,000 with only one of the Ford dealers selling Lincoln. And they really never have more than 20 or so vehicles in their inventory. There were 5 2015 MKC's. Of them, mine was the only 2.3l awd. I always want the big motor and, if available, awd! I was really impressed with the 2.3l's acceleration. I prefer the instant torque of the Ecoboost over winding up a Coyote 5.0, if you can believe that!

I know! The Lincoln salesman assumed I was just now starting a family, thus the need to trade the Mustang, lol! My kids actually loved riding in the back of my Mustang. The rumble of the exhaust and the snugness of the backseats always made them fall asleep on any ride over 15 minutes!

Yep, the Mustang was a dream come true and I did take some solace in the 2.3l's shared Mustang roots. I commute about an hour on the interstate each way every day and I got tired of being run off the road by every lead foot. I wanted the Mustang, in part, to show those bozos tail lights. But it's probably good I got rid of it before I got radar'd at 120 or something.

Which is not to say I'm driving the Lincoln like that. I enjoy it too much to shorten the ride!

I like how the light bar contrasts with the body color. I like red, but I think that there being no contrast between the light bar and the exterior color makes the car look too monotone.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you like your MKC so far.
