New sync update v3.8

Great Siri update-Siri eyes free.

According to Lincoln site you can download to USB and install which should mean no trip to dealer to update. Yay!

Now please add updates for audio - higher quality audio play back and the ability to fast forward within a song track not just between tracks.

Thanks for the info.
I just got it updated, and it does take at least 30 minutes (with multiple self-reboots) for the installation to complete.

FYI, wallpapers and synchronized devices (i.e. phones) will need to be re-installed, but not your saved locations!

yup, easy to do. Finally we can at least do it ourselves with a usb. My husbands escape needed to go into the dealer for his updates..that must have been a service nightmare as well..they should be happy(not having to schedule all the sync updates) but I bet a lot of folks might bring it in to be done anyway if they are not that "tech savvy"..it is easy to do if you are comfortable
You do also lose your Sirius music alerts :-( Ive lost mine about 6 times since the summer from dealer visits and having to do master resets on my sync to troubleshoot.

Also on the list of wants for SYNC updates :

Allow more Sirius music alerts to be saved, I like a lot of different music and
Allow playback of HQ audio such as FLAC or preferably HD-FLAC from USB and
PLEASE PLEASE update your ID3 track identification so my live music tracks can be ordered correctly without having to use a tag editor
Gen 2 v3.8 Lincoln Wallpaper Disapperaed

The update went well but have 2 issues:

1. My Lincoln logo for wallpaper was replaced with a ford logo. How can i get this back?

2. The images for the satellite channels are missing. it shows the title and song but the chaneel graphics for sirius are missing.

Any ideas?

That's an interesting issue. Did not happen with mine. Do you possibly have another Fotd vehicle and used the same file to update both?

I did not have any issue. Easy install. You do lose your wallpaper that you may have uploaded but the Lincoln logo came back for me.
And I was wrong that you lost your Sirius alerts, master resets wipe those out but the software update did not.

You must have grabbed a ford update by mistake...did you go in through the Lincoln owners site?
I ran this into my C with no issues a week ago. After taking a trip last weekend, I feel confident saying that the navigation runs noticeably quicker than before--zooming and other touched command inputs don't seem to lag as much.
Also had to reset the ambient lighting but overall, a pretty fair update.

I will join the chorus of those that want lossless music files supported!
FLAC and HD FLAC please among others..and please fix your ID3 tags (or the field sync uses to order tracks) so my live music tracks will order correctly..
I uploaded my Sync update a few days ago and:
1. It took exactly 18 minutes
2. Surprise, surprise, I lost nothing except the interior color lighting and the wallpaper photo's I had downloaded. Sirius pre-sets, Nav. addresses and everything else was still there after the update...very strange.

Just to confirm...the update changed two functions - the ability to use Siri and the automatic identification of any of my pre-loaded phones, and that's it! Am I missing anything else it's supposed to do?

I was told by the Srvc. Mgr at my dealership that once the 2016's w/Sync 3 came out (3 months ago), there would no longer be any updates to our Sync 2, but as usual, my dealer doesn't know what he's talking about. The other good news is that a call into the Sync cust. srvc. reps revealed that there will be more updates in the future, they just don't know exactly what they will entail.
So....were do I go to find this update?
On the Lincoln.com site. You need to log into the owners area of the site.

I did the update a couple days ago when I had a little driving to do. It took about 20 minutes and went smoothly. It sat on the 3rd file forever and I was thinking sure just my luck, the thing has frozen.
I didn't lose any settings in the process. The instructions for the download are very good also except when you have to come back to the computer to report that you have done the download. When you click on "report update" or whatever it actually says, nothing happens to tell you you've successfully reported in. They could have at least said thank you! :frown
i've logged in on lincoln and I cannot find any update.

Edited: I did find it! I'll have to try this update later.
This afternoon, I attempted multiple times to update the software. In each case I got a message stating "problem detected with USB storage device." I tried two separate USB flash drives. Each gets about 11 to 14% through the installation process and then crashes. I contacted Lincoln technical support twice and followed their instructions, but they were unable to resolve the problem or even suggest what might be the issue. The technician said take it to the dealer. The screen is now locked with an "insert USB" message. The radio, AC, backup camera, navigation, and anything else that depends on the screen is dead. I was sufficiently irritated on the second call that they created a case number to follow-up on the trip to the dealer. I am reasonably tech-savy and the process of downloading and installing the files isn't complicated, but this has been a disaster.

Hey Lee, Try using an empty 4GB+ (format it first) USB flash drive. It cannot have anything else on it or it will fail. You've probably already tried that but just in case..........

Thanks, Bruce. Yes, I used 8GB and 16GB flash drives, both of which I formatted before writing the files to them. Tried several times, but nothing works.
Just curious, how are you formatting them? (i.e. what computer, what format, etc)

Dell PC, Windows 7 Home Premium that is automatically updated from Microsoft, FAT 32. It reads at least some of the files OK since it gets to 11-14% of the way through. I'm guessing a file is missing or somehow corrupted, which causes it to stumble during the update. I have an appointment with the dealer at 9 on Wednesday.
