Hello all! Nice to meet ya!

Took delivery of my 2016 base MKC (red - so sleek looking!) on Thursday. Driving it all weekend, its been sweet!

My car buying story:

I wanted an explorer.. bad... I had not looked at any other SUVs cause i knew i wanted 3 rows.. and the explorer is good enough for the police, its good enough for me! I test drove it, and HATED IT... the gas pedal shook/vibrated.. and just felt terrible, so i was over the Explorer. Went to Honda (they were SHADY when it came to the credit app.. gave me a crap rate when we just got 1.9 for my wifes car). But I liked the Pilot... they couldn't get me in one that I wanted (none were available) so we took a look at a CRV Touring. It was nice, but I've never liked the styling. The rear end looks terrible IMO. Then came back to another Escape! I dreaded having 2 of the same car in our garage. But mine would be a titanium with all the bells and whistles. Rewind a year and a half ago - my wife and I got to do the Lincoln date night with a brand new MKC. It was an amazing night with the free $100 gift card. Found out that there were all KINDS of incentives + a 1.9% interest rate, and the dealer was fine with getting me the red color I craved! Done deal! oh and Xplan pricing FTW!!!

Sorry for the huge block of text...

Biggest problem is having the kids in a car seat and a booster seat, they are getting the backs of my front seats all dirty with salt from their shoes! Anyone have any recommendations for kick pads that fit our seats well?

I'm getting about 16.3mpg right now, lots of city stop/go driving, is that what everyone else is getting?

My wife owns a 2016 escape, and has the Sync 3 system.. what I like about hers is the cluster behind the wheel, shows her MPH real large in digital numbers.. wish the MKC has that screen.

It drives so well, my daughter (3 yrs old) started crying when my wife had to take her to dance in her escape cause she wanted to drive in daddys car :)

Also - bought an extra 2 years maintenance to bring it to 4 yrs. Hope this was a good decision.

Looking forward to contributing to the site as much as I can! Thanks for reading! :devil

Welcome - We have a 2016 and love it! Had a 2011 Ford Edge that was very good but we wanted smaller and plusher and the MKC fit the bill. When our kids were younger we put a blanket down on the seats to kinda protect them. Also reduced the inprint of the child seat in the leather.
I am happy to see that someone else wants the digital speedometer read out too! I sure do miss it.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the MKC....I'm told red is the fastest colour!!!!Which engine did yours come with, hoping you went with the 2.3 it's a stronger engine with great torque.
I agree with the suggestion blankster offered, placing a blanket on the seat backs, it will save them from lil scruff marks and dripping melting snow into the setback pocket!
Enjoy your stay and look forward to hearing your thoughts on your new purchase!
Doh! I got the 2.0t, as getting the 2.3t package would of put me way over the monthly payment I was aiming for. I was hoping to see if someone had any experience trying to put in something like this:

Brica Deluxe Kick Mats? 2pk - Black : Target

or even something that works better for our seats.

So far - I'm really enjoying the ride. So quiet and smooth. Has WAY more getup-and-go than my 2010 Subaru Forester had... WAY more...

I wish there was something where the cup holders are to rest my hand on.. Right now, I'm using a water bottle - but I'm so used to a shifter being there, and having my hand rest on it.. just feels a bit empty without it!

Btw, running regular unleaded (cheapest) gas is fine right? I'm obviously not really trying to go for performance here. If I were to tow something ( don't even have the tow package) I'd put in premium, but really feel there's no need!
Also - I LOVE THE welcome flood lighting that puts the Lincoln symbol down.

I was wondering, has anyone seen a mod that would change this into the bat-symbol? I know im showing my nerdy-ness here, but man, that would be cool to have those show up on the ground. lol.:nerd

So long as you are using regular from a top-tier brand you should be fine... If you plan to blast the engine hard in the mountains or tow something then go premium.

We have gotten used to no shifter... Actually we now like the buttons especially when you press park then jump up to the start-stop button..

Another nice thing I noticed - On a remote start you can just press the reverse or drive button to "start" the vehicle.. On the Edge you had to press the start button first - Many times I would hit the shifter first after a remote start and the vehicle would die.

So I'm guessing getting Sheetz for GetGo gas is a no go? (we live in PA)... we have a Sunoco nearby, so that's available. But at GetGo we get fuelperks and sometimes get .50-1.00 off a gallon (which right now makes it around 1.20/gal..)
I've been using United oil or whatever inexpensive gas for the past year and have seen no ill effects. I have the 2.3L and use it going up to the mountains with no problems. just my 2¢.

Shell Mid grade is what mine gets....no issues at all, happy with this car overall, I actually still "look" for the shifter from time to time lol...I find the centre arm rest works fine to rest my arm on...I do find the door armrest to be somewhat vague in it's placement....either too low or too high...but Im adapting fine!
Those Brica kick mats look like a good idea if you have young ones in the back seat....I'm almost convinced that list pic of the blue kids boot is covered with chocolate lol! that's NOT mud!

Any problem with the fuel you use will be cumulative. Direct Injection has its own quirks so fuel quality is key!
