New TSB for heated seats

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd drop in and let everyone know (not sure if it's been mentioned on here yet) that there's a new TSB out for the MKC regarding the heated seats being inoperable or taking too long to get warm. I work at a Ford dealer so I see all of the latest service info for each vehicle. Mine has the problem, but it does eventually heat. It is just very weak and takes a very long time for it to warm up.

The TSB is 15-0027, And it reads: Some MKC models built on or before 2/20/2015 may exhibit a climate controlled seat that does not get hot or does not warm up quickly.

Not sure what the service procedure is, but my car is booked in for Monday to get it done! It is also going to have the ambient lights in the passenger door looked at as they have not worked since new. I'll keep everyone posted as to how it turns out after the TSB is done.

Cheers!

Does the TSB only apply to MKCs with the Reserve equipment package?
Doesn't specify so I don't think so. It just states that Lincoln MKC's built before Feb. 20 (I imagine that's the first day of Job 3?) are affected.
If you're not absolutely sure it might be best to contact your dealership to know.

Please advise us what all this is entailed with fixing the heated front seats, including parts & labor time. I'm scheduled to go the dealer on Thursday next week. Thanks!

I may not be the best judge of the labor time as I'm an employee so I get the backburner, but I'll be sure to report what the RO says after the repairs are done.
Thank you HCFX

I bought my MKC 1 month ago, I noticed the seats were taking a while to get warm and weren't that warm. I am glad to know I wasn't the only one and that Lincoln is aware! I will make an appt to get it fixed :)
Really hope they come out with a TSB for the AC seats. I love this car but it was a requirement for us to have AC seats (gets pretty hot here in Texas). Turns out they are the worst AC seats of anything I've owned or road in. The high setting is equal to the low setting in both the Explorer and the Silverado. Really don't understand why it doesn't actually blow it only cools the leather to the touch.
My MKC goes in tomorrow for oil change. What all was done to yours on Monday to fix the slow-poke heated seats? Just want to know so I can convey the info. & understand what the fix is going to be. Thanks!
Brought my car in for service. They agreed the seats do not heat to the set temperature. They had to order new heating elements.

I also brought my car in today for its first oil change and inspection. Told the service mgr about the slow heated seats. He found TSB 15-0027 ( mentioned at the beginning of this thread). They tested my seats and determined they did not meet specification. They ordered 2 seat cushion pads and 2 seat backing pads for both front seats. Should be in later this week. Will let u know when they r installed and how they work. I must admit this was not a big deal for me. Thank goodness for the quick heated Steering Wheel, now that would have been a big deal living in northern Ohio. :smile

Sounds exactly like my situation Trainman, took the MK to the dealer and the seats met the criteria for the TSB, so they ordered seat bottoms and backing pads for mine. The parts should be in pretty quick, they were a USA No-stock item.

Also had them look into why none of the ambient lights in my passenger door haven't worked since new. They opened the door panel and apparently Lincoln just forgot to install the harness for the lights. Ordered that part too, it was also a USA no-stock. The service advisor and myself had a good chuckle about that for a few minutes.
I stopped in my Dealer's service area, in regard to the c/c seat heating issue. Write up stated no need to test them; that they were aware of updated parts that just came out recently, regarding the slow and low temp seat heating issue for my MKC. Ordered the parts and set up an appointment and Lincoln loaner for me. I questioned on parts; replied, will be new heating element parts and seat foam. Stated this is quite new to them and will have additional information as vehicles are serviced.

Advised me there is an improvement in the time frame to fully heat up and the seat temp would increase somewhat from where they were originally set to top out at. Also advised me that it is considerable time frame job and depending, may not be ready till the next day.

During the visit they asked if I would like them to wash the MKC; while they washed it, we ran off topic and I never got back around to questioning the factory parts installed. During the parts replacement service visit, I will check for any additional info they may offer to share. And which c/c seat parts they actually replaced.

They called to inform me, those replacement parts are on back order. :frown When the parts arrive they will call to reschedule my service appointment. :|

I have a feeling the seat replacement parts may take awhile to come. Reading Linc's post on the amount of work required to do the fix, I may wait and see how others fare before I have mine done. I hate to have them take apart both front seats for an issue, at least for me, is no big deal and maybe mess up something else? So I may pass on this enhancement.

I had my heating elements replaced today. The seats now work now they did in the previous Fords I had. Heated seats get hot hot and AC seats get cold! In addition to changing the element they changed the internal seat cushion. It feels exactly the same and allows the air to ventilate better.

Brought my car in for service. Reported the heated seats do not get hot and they tested them. They did not reach the set temperature so they ordered new heating elements! They work great now - the way they are supposed to Linc :smile ." End Quote.

I knew those parts were on national back order all along. That is why I questioned your sarcastic remark to me. And also questioned you in other posts. I believe you and t2015MKC and Bob Evans (Likes) owe me apologies for those poor taste posts towards me. And a few others here.
I don't know what your issue is dude. My issue was resolved. You obviously have more issues outside of your MKC. Good luck on all accounts.

Just got my car back today after ford dealer repaired the heated/air seats and foam. He had my mkc for 2 weeks and was put in a rental since the lincoln dealer is too far away. He did tell me that the parts were indeed on back order but he was going to make a call and see if he could get the required items off the assembly line. I had no idea what he was talking about :confused:but he got them and they work great:laugh. The reason the car was kept so long was that he also replaced the push button start recall and accidentally broke the dash housing and that part took a week to come in.

Back at you dude.

First you had them replaced on March 20. Then state replaced on April 10. All while no parts are yet available for the c/c seats tsb repair.

For whatever your reasons maybe; you can't even keep your phantom story's straight, from one post to the next on this subject and others. And when your called out on it, you chose no answer at all, or flipping it back as your way out of the dilemma. And then get a bud or two to go along for the ride. We all know what that is called.

By the way that 12 Edge you rented with c/c seats that worked just fine for you, well the Edge finally has c/c front seats for 2015MY. :eek

You shouldn't copy little pieces off others. :frown

I get that your  but good for a :laugh

If there are parts for assembly there would also be parts in the warehouse distribution to the dealers. :wink

Techs do not break what they take apart, they have all the tools, information and illustrations for correct removal and installations of the order at hand. :|

Will take all of the above with a grain of salt. :smile
