Sometimes last summer/fall, I don't exactly remember when, I was driving home from work when I noticed that the odometer had disappeared from the display. I stopped to get gas and when I started the car, the odometer was displaying again. I never had the problem happen again until yesterday. This time I took a pic. I shut the car off and restarted it but still no odometer displayed. I shut the car off again, opened the door in order to cut off the delayed electrical feed, started the car and the odometer appeared. I called the Ford dealer who did a search and found nothing about this. They did find reported problems of the Sirius XM/radio song/artist not displaying on the dash which has happened on my MKC many times. The solution for that is a software re-program. I am taking the car in tomorrow to have that done and hopefully it will also solve the odometer problem.

Your system re-booted. There is a TSB for that from what I remember.

The dealer searched for a TSB but did not find anything, at least not while I was on the phone with them. Maybe they will know tomorrow when I bring the car in.

Thanks desgnr. I'll keep that in mind if they can resolve the problem. I showed up at 9 am for my appointment only to have it cancelled because all the techs were too busy today...not impressed. Now I have to bring it back on Thurs. Yesterday I had just pulled out of my driveway and I got a rock in my windshield thrown up by a crazy driver that was going way too fast on the dirt road. I went to the windshield repair place this morning. They fixed it as best they could but they think it is still going to crack anyway. At least they did not charge me for the repair.

I had the same issue earlier this summer. I got in to leave work and happened to notice no odometer. I couldn't remember if it was displayed by defualt or not so I toggled through a few screens and got nothing. Stopped for gas, started the car back up and there it was. Hasn't happened again.

I was at the Ford dealer at 9 am sharp this morning. I decided I would wait around for a bit as the service advisor had no idea how long the software upgrade would take. At 10:10 she advised me that they were having internet problems and the software download kept failing. She said she had arranged for a loaner vehicle (an F250 truck) since that was the only vehicle available at the car rental agency. That's ride, Ford does not provide loaner vehicles themselves. She said to wait 1/2 hour more to see how the upgrade was going which I did. Since it still was not finished they drove me to the car rental place (about 10 minutes from the dealer). I had to sign all the rental papers, etc. and then drove off in the truck. It was a behemoth of a vehicle but still drives like a truck...I much prefer my MKC. I picked up some groceries and went home (about 25 km away). At 1 pm the dealership called and said the car was ready so back I went to the car rental place to drop off the truck. They then drove me to the dealership where I picked up my car. All in all, not nearly as easy to get a loaner vehicle as some of you have described at the Lincoln only dealerships. I don't know if the odometer issue is resolved or not....will just have to wait and see if it disappears again.

As mentioned in my last post, the dealer did a software upgrade for the dashboard to correct the problem of the Sirius XM song title/artist not displaying. They think this might have fixed the odometer disappearing also but don't know for sure. I just have to wait and hope it doesn't happen again.l
