I have a 2017 MKC with park assist. The owners manual states that if you hit the park assist button twice, it will activate perpendicular parking mode, when I hit the park assist once, I get parallel mode, the second time I hit it, it drops out of park assist mode. Anyone have any input on this?

Have you tried increasing/decreasing the time lag between hitting the button twice? Just a guess.

i actually got a good answer from the concierge service. they looked up my VIN and told me that I do not have the advanced park assist that includes the perpendicular parking, I just have the standard park assist that has the parallel park and pull out assist modes only.

That's correct, we have the regular park assist, and not the ENHANCED park assist known officially, that has the perpendicular assist.
