Let me preface this question by saying that I'm 73 and not very tech savvy. My phone is a basic LG exalt model (Verizon). My previous car was a '14 Escape Titanium. This phone worked fine with this vehicle. My current vehicle ('17 MKC Reserve) is a different story. I pair my phone and it works fine sometimes. Other times I get told it's searching for the previously paired phone, but does not connect. Neither my car or phone get used every day, and may sit for 3 or 4 days without use. Big question is What's broken? The phone or the car?

Same here. As with so many Bluetooth devices, there are seemingly random times that re-connection does not happen on its own. I am forced to fire up the phone's settings/bluetooth/SYNCH and make the phone discoverable. It will be 100% for months then go through a fit of not hooking up. Outbound 5 minute trip to hardware store, its fine- get back in for return trip, nada.

Its not you and its not broken. Feels more likely that it is the phone- check main screen for that 'wingy' looking bluetooth icon that tells you its on. Bet most of the time it is not there when you have to reconnect. This for the much (over) loved Iphone6.

I have added it to the tech mystery list, like why do I have to reboot my home wifi sometimes? Wireless communications of all sorts don't seem to have that reliability we demand.

I'm guessing that there must another phone that was previously paired with the vehicle and your phone is not set as the favorite device. Go back into the phone setting, click devices, and if there are multiple phones listed then that would most likely be your issue. Also, if you have two phone in the car at the same time that are paired up only one of the devices is going to connect. Also, I find most frequently that people accidentally turn off the bluetooth to their phone and then turn around and blame the car for not working.

I just checked my phone and I have 13 Bluetooth devices paired. Many of them require me to manually reconnect. The MKC always pairs automatically.
