Curious about others experience with power active mode (Lincoln fancy name for running electronics/audio without running the engine)

I sometimes listen to my stereo in my garage while cleaning without starting the engine. I also like to listen to music tail gating for shows/sports. Previous cars I've done this for up to an hour without draining the battery.

The MKC (thankfully for me maybe not others) has an automatic shut off mode of power active after a certain times (it appears to be 15 or 20 minutes) which shuts off the power in case you walk away and forget. If I use it more than 15 minutes I just reach in window and hit start button to re activate it and continue to listen. I thought I had been doing this a few times without issue.

The last few times I did the power active ran through the first 15 minute "cycle" then shut off. When I reached in to turn it on again everything was black and a message came up saying "turning off power active mode to save battery". I then could not run anything until I ran the engine (something I obviously don't want to do if I'm in a garage or in tight parking running my engine in someone's face sitting hanging at their car).

Wondering if anyone else uses this feature and what your experiences have been with it. Dealer mentioned a "setting" maybe but to me it sounds like what it's saying, that running power active mode is draining the battery to an extent that the MKC feels it needs to shut it down so the battery doesn't go dead. Think it's a little odd that you risk battery draining completely with running power active 20 minutes but then there is a lot of tech and electronics in the vehicle.

Thoughts?

I think you can turn on the stereo all by itself with the key fob inside the car. No need to power up the whole system which illuminates the dash and so forth. This will drink less power, but still may shut off automatically after a time. Keeping doors closed but windows down will save powering the interior lights but still let you hear tunes.

My Sirius antenna tight all around by the way. As it should be. Loose leads to vibration leads to breaking.

I’m at a loss. I poured over the owners manual. It simple will not let me turn of the stereo unless the engine is running. Everything about this vehicle is a challenge and I regret buying it and can’t wait to get ride of it.

My radio will not turn on unless the engine is started. Only have 31,000. It presents the timing bar on the display warning 15 seconds till shut off and WILL NOT let me bypass it. I tried to find an Aux power setting on the ignition button but might as well bash my brains out in the steering wheel. I can’t wait to get rid of this piece of junk.

That is a sign of a battery that is getting low on charge, the car will monitor when it is safe to have the radio running, I'd recommend you put the battery on a trickle charge for a few nights see if that resolves it but you probably have a new battery in your future

I realize this is an old thread but if you still have the car or the issue, check out the thread "Audio with Aux Power"
under "Electronics, Audio and Lighting"
