I'm still learning about the various features of our new MKC. A question: There are several references in the owners manual to placing the remote in the "backup slot". As I understand it, if, for whatever reason, you can't start the engine with the remote, you place the transmitter into the "backup position". My question is: Exactly where is this, and which end of the transmitter is inserted. I see a picture in the manual of what appears to be the slot at the bottom of the centre console. But it's hard to see down there even with a flashlight. When I reach down there, I can feel what I'm guessing (?) is the slot, but I'm not sure. Is that it? And if so, how do you orient the transmitter when placing into this slot?
Thanks.

I had to use the backup slot when the car kept telling me 'no key detected' even though I had just driven the car. The battery in the remote was not dead because I could still lock/unlock the doors. Once I got the car started I drove right to the dealer and of course they could find nothing wrong nor could they replicate the problem.

I don't know what year your MKC is but on my 2015, the scan function for the radio is on the radio display screen on the right hand side....its location can vary depending whether you are listening to AM/FM, Siriux XM, CD, USB, etc.

..thanks...mine is a 2017,,, will keep looking... got the conclusion that maybe is NONE??????....lol
There are several different ways of getting at it. It is available on the SYNC screen when you are in a mode that supports it (like Radio, Sirius, Playlist, etc). I typically don't use that since I find actual button quicker to use. On my 2015 MKC, there are buttons in two places. One on the steering wheel, the other between the radio knobs. They also exist on my 2017 MKZ, so presumably there is something similar on the your 2017 MKC. They call it "Seek" rather than "Scan". Depending on the mode you are in, it may or may not be available. In Radio mode, it looks for next station, in PlayList mode, it jumps to the next song, etc. The button on the steering wheel also answers or hangs up the phone if a call is active.

FWIW, I have found that downloading the .pdf version of the owners manual (from the Lincoln Owners site) is very helpful in finding an answer to a question. In the .pdf, you can scan for words rather than flipping through printed pages. I keep it on my iPad which I usually have in the car, so I can find answers when the issue comes up.

Seek and Scan are different. Seek goes to the next station and then stops on that station until you press seek again. Scan also searches for stations, but will momentarily pause before it moves on automatically to the next station until you press scan again to lock in that station.

On my 2015, both the seek and scan options are available. The seek function can be accessed via the buttons below the screen or by using the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel while the scan function is accessed via the touch screen on the audio display screen...the position varies depending on the mode of audio being used (AM/FM, satellite, etc.). Also the scan function can be set to scan for only the selected type of broadcast ie. weather or news or country music or comedy, etc.

I have seek buttons below the screen but can't find a scan button anywhere - in three months I hadn't had occasion to look for it!
