My MKC is a 2015 so I don't know if the options have changed or not. You use the left controls on the steering wheel. On mine, I do the following. Select Settings, then Vehicle, then Remote Start. Now you will see settings for Climate Control and Seats & Steering Wheel as well as Duration and System. You must have System checked in order to enable Remote Start. It is on page 115 in the owner's manual.

Even with all the settings in the cluster set to "on" and "auto", does anyone know if the ambient air temp inside the car has to be below a certain temperature for the seats and steering wheel to activate during remote starting? I live in So. Cal. and, while it hasn't been cold here by Northern U.S. or Canadian standards, it has been chilly lately in the early mornings and evenings. When I use the remote start and first enter the car, I can tell the heater has been working, but the seats and steering wheel have not. Wondering if it just isn't cold enough where I am for those to automatically activate with the remote start...

I need to hunt this issue in the owners manual...Lincoln might have changed some of these settings for the 16 model year.
"On mine, I do the following. Select Settings, then Vehicle, then Remote Start." this is where I am getting stuck, got into settings, found vehicle....but NO remote start unless I am missing it, but I doubt it (scratching head).....
Can someone with a 2016 that uses these settings for the "remote start/heated steering wheel" chime in, maybe give me a walk through how this procedure is set on a 2016!....thanks guys, always appreciated!

I checked the 2016 owner's manual on-line...the settings for the remote control start are explained on page 113. They procedure is the same as I explained above for the 2015 model. You are using the left controls on the steering wheel for the display screen on the left dashboard? And you have to page down a couple of times.

Found the answer to my own question in the OM. It says the seats and wheel may not always turn on based on the air temperature of the car when remote started.

Remote started my 2016 via key fob and app and the defroster kicked into hi immediately even though the vehicle was cold. That is similar to our previous Edge.
my 2016 does the same exact thing blankster, just as you described.

Well I was able to find the settings you guys mentioned...they are sort of found within a different layer of settings within settings, but got it set up as logical as I understand, steering wheel ON...we'll see what happens this morning when I start her up!

I notice no one here seems to use an avatar....I just tried to add one to mine....wondering if it would work!

Looks like it did after all!!!!!

Kinda funny...this conversation about heated steering wheel programmed to come ON, on remote start up...
I ran this situation past my salesman, and he IS a techie.....had a **** of a time figuring out what to do....so he trucks off to the shop and comes out with a certified mechanic....between the both of them and me giving them input and telling them" the guys on the Lincoln forum have this under their belts" LOL....no matter what they tried, it just would not work.
If anyone feels like helping me out with a step by step setup to get the steering wheel to turn ON on a remote start up would be REALLY appreciated, maybe it should be a sticky on this forum.
My wife is gonna put me in the dog house if I continue to mess with this, which means....sex life drops to negative non existent for the next few days!!!!! lol
Help out guys PLEASE, and it's for a 2016 MKC reserve....how can this be so freaking strange to set up!
Thanks guys, appreciated ( if you decide to help out...please make sure you go through ALL the steps.

Set the auto-start to Auto then depending on the the ambient temperature outside (and/or inside) the steering wheel will heat along with the seats. What that magic temperature is I do not know

Thank you kind Sir....your name has been added to my will!!!!
Do I turn on the steering wheel ON in settings?

Ok 5.0 Candy, here goes

1. Using the left controls on the steering wheel, select Vehicle
2. Now you will see in the display Drive Control, DTE Calculation, Easy Entry/Exit, Auto Engine Off. Using the the down arrow on the steering wheel, keep pressing it until you see in the display Remote Start
3. Using the right arrow, press once and you will see 4 options - Climate Control, Front and Wheel, Duration, System
4. Highlight Climate Control and use the right arrow. Now you have 2 options - Auto and Last Settings. Select Auto.
5. Use the left arrow to return to the previous screen. Use the down arrow and select Front and Wheel. Use the right arrow and you will see Auto Heated and Off. Select Auto Heated.
6. Use the left arrow to return to the previous screen. Use the down arrow and select Duration. Use the right arrow and you will see 5, 10, 15 minutes. Select which ever amount of time you want the car to run when you start it with the remote start.
7. Use the left arrow to return to the previous screen. Use the down arrow and select System. Make sure that there is a check mark beside System.

That's it...now the seats and wheel should either heat or cool depending on the outside temperature when you remote start.

Countryguy:
I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to write those instructions,THANK YOU MAN!
I pretty much touched through most of those settings, but I guess it was NOT in the sequence you described, or to the degree of detail you offered, again thanks man.....It's a funny world we live in, I can tear down pretty much any trans and rebuild it....same applies to motors, but this electronic wizardry get me a lil bent up!
Im getting more at ease going through the electronics this ride has,not difficult, but somewhat confusing I find.
I will go step by step with your suggestion and hope it pans out, again, thanks man....maybe I'won't end up in the dog house after all hehehe, cheers!
On another note; Got my new 18"alloy rims in gun metal( not a chance in **** I was going to accept those cheap Chinese pressed steel rims) shod with Michelin XIce...these are the same tires I have on the Mustang GTCS (winter tires) and have nothing but good things to say about them, incredible grip, good stopping power and with enough sips to stick to the slickest ice surface...a slight change in the camber feel due to reduced rotational mass, but still excellent overall.
Set up an appointment for the heated seats ( or lack off) this coming Thursday, will see how that goes...Got a complementary tire storage for the next two winter seasons which Im happy about, it's not the money saved ( just $35.00 per season), but the fact they'll be there come spring, ready to throw on and no hassle loading them up and handling them.
Cheers!

You are welcome 5.0 Candy. I hope you get it figured out. I have an appointment at the Ford dealer (no Lincoln dealer where I live...closest one is 2 hours away) to have the heated seats checked as well as the TPMS. I did not have pressure sensors installed on my winter tires that I just purchased so I was expecting the lower pressure light on the dash to be on constantly but it is not on at all and according to Lincoln it should be on. I got 18" rims also with Nokean studded tires.

Countryguy, Again.... thank you for the help, your instructions worked perfectly... I remote started this morning, got in and......Surprise!!!!! the steering was nicely heated up!
I hope your post will become a "sticky" on this forum.....I'm positive it will help a lot more people that may find programming the heated steering wheel challanging!
After going through your instructions, I was able to just apply them as you described and viola!!!!! piece of cake.
Thanks again for taking the time.
Mario

Countryguy... incredible choice of tires you went with...I give those tires an 11 out of a 10,Nokean tires are possibly the BEST winter tire out there regardless of brand...I had them on my SRT 4 a few years back and found them to be top notch,I'm sure you'll love how they perform in snow/ice conditions....granted, a pricy tire, but compared to Michelin, their price point is just a smidgen more!
Here we go again with electronics (shudder) LOL ....it is quite possible that if all 4 TPMS are not being "read" as on board.... then the computer is essentially assuming they are not present and self cancels the LPS off (Low pressure Sensor)....these systems are constantly evolving from year to year, so unless I look at data sheets I'm just guessing myself.
It IS a good idea to have this checked out, I had TPMS installed on my new winter package for peace of mind through the dealership.
My experience with these units varies from manufacture to manufacture; in the case of my Mustang GT, they have to be reprogrammed if they exceed ( I believe) 100 feet for longer than a few days.... as in when they are removed and stored away for the spring summer fall season. I had a tool to programme them included with the wheel/tire order through Tire Rack.
Turn the ignition key on and off 3 times, listen for the short beep then within 10 seconds of the beep, hold the programming tool next to the valve stem on each wheel and proceed on the remaining three wheels....for some reason, it wanted you to start with the furthest wheel from the ignition point....rear passenger wheel, and proceed in a clock wise sequence.
On my cousins GM G8 its a snap, throw the wheels on.... then go to each tire and start lowering pressure till it kicks ON the warning light on, almost like "waking the TPMS sensor up" and move on to the next tire.....simple, but distinctly different procedure...
Dealership set up an appointment for my heated seats for this coming Thursday in the AM.... something tells me mine will be outside the built date and therefore outside the TSB mandate...I'm nervous about having some guy rip mine apart to open them, and hoping that they check out OK. I'll keep you guys posted what transpires next Thursday.

I'm glad that you were able to follow the instructions and got it to work! The nokean tires and rims were expensive but the tire dealer said that nokean were the best. I didn't really want fancy winter rims but I couldn't find any basic ones. The rims alone were $560. I was thinking that maybe the TPMS was smart enough to know that the sensors weren't present and that is why the light is off but according to the reply that the service manager got back from Ford this is not the case. Ford says the light should be on.

Keep us posted on the fix...did you decline TPMS install of those new Nokean tires?

The rims and tires were expensive enough ($2000) so I didn't want to spend another $250 on the sensors. I can live without them. I check the tire pressure regularly myself.
