Scam or Legit?

I recieved an e-mail stating that:

"Ford/Lincoln Motor Company has requested that we invite you to participate in an important marketing research study conducted by Morpace Inc."

I believe the only site that has to do with Lincoln that I gave my e-mail address to is this MKC Fourm dot com.

Has anyone else received a similar e-mail or know if it is legit?

I think this is legit... I haven't received this yet for my new Lincoln but I had received it for both my BMW and my Audi. They target owners of luxury cars. Go ahead if you feel like doing it, this is not a scam.
I got one from Maritz and completed it. Morpace (after a quick check) seems legit-but probably won't be automotive.

Have not gotten one from Morpace. But I usually get them from 4 or 6 different survey companies every time I buy a new car.

I looked them up, they are a Market Research Firm in Farmington, MI - so no doubt they do work for the folks in the auto industry.

The purchase of a new car is considered public record is most states. When you get a license plate from the state, they know your make and model, name and address. Several marketing companies "harvest" that public information which is connected to your name and address and overlay it with email addresses from a number of sources. Voila.... they got you! I used to work for a company that does this.

Big brother is watching! :)

Morpace is a legitimate, well-respected company in the survey business. I used to work for a major telecom and we used them every three years to run an ongoing study with our consumers.
Thank You one and all for the responses.

Seems strange that I rec'd an e-mail from them as I haven't bought a new car yet. Only place I figured they got my e-mail address from was this MKC list.

I signed up hear as we were seriously considering a new MKC, but you have all made me gun shy now.

Thanks again.
