It's for a compact umbrella.
I can't see how an umbrella will fit,it is only about an inch wide.
We have an umbrella stored there. Works fine.

Here you go, doesn't fit right in the narrow channel, but it doesn't move around.

The "umbrella in the door feature" looks really neat.... until you realize the door needs to swing very wide and you have to step into the rain to draw the darned thing out. I'll take the Lincoln "umbrella by my side" idea instead.

same here, i just like the rolls system for the cool factor.
i guess they just take it that people who own these might have drivers, so it's their driver that has to get wet
My husband is 6'2 and he complains the seat is too small.

My husbands new Chevy Volt has an umbrella hole in the pocket of the door, a much better design, IMO.
