I have successfully connected my iPhone 6Plus to my new 2015 MKC and can receive txt messages. Sync can also read them to me.

I am not able to reply or send txt messages. Is there any way of getting this to work? It says my phone does not support Bluetooth messaging. I am running iOS 8.4.1.

Thanks

This not just a Ford problem. Its an Apple problem, as far as I know you can't do it. This is also true with Chryslers UConnect 8.4N.. so again, not just a Ford MFT/Sync3 issue.

Rayo you replaced your MKC that the airbag blew up on right? Did you get a 2015 or 2016?
Sorry just read you went with the new MKX. Did you get it yet? Would love to hear your comparison of the MKC and new MKX since the cars are so similar.

Rayo did you get the new revel stereo?

Anyone else considering upgrading to the MKX after the MKC? the cars are remarkably similar, hard to even tell the difference between the two from afar...like Audi Q3 and Q5. And the MKX offers options you cannot get in the MKC like adaptive headlights and a surround camera as well as upgraded seating and stereo.

I went to the dealer. But I'm looking at adding an extra 100 a month on my payment for the trade in and to get the options I want. I might just wait until the lease is up.

You are correct, I am upgrading to the MKX. My loaded 2016 MKX Reserve was originally due in this week. I just sent a message to my dealer to get a status update. There have been a ton of delays with lots of the guys that ordered MKXs so I am not convinced it will actually show this week.

The only real bummer for me is lack of Sync3. But I am hoping all the other things (bigger size wise, 2.7 Ecoboost, 22 way seats, Revell 19 speaker, surround view camera, LED/Adaptive lights, active braking etc.) out weight the lack of Sync3. I have decided if I am not completely wowed by the MKX... I will not purchase it and get a 2016 MKC with Sync3 instead. My dealer and I have discussed this potentiality and they are fine with selling my MKX on the lot if I choose not to take it.

I figure the loaded MKC was/is just over $50K, the loaded MKX is right at $63K. I want to FEEL LIKE the MKX is worth $13K more then the MKC. So we shall see... I am as you imagine a bit skeptical. So far on the MKX forums, guys that have just recently gotten their new MKXs are really glowing about how nice they are. Again... I am hoping I feel that same way.

Frankly... if I decide its not worth the $63K... it would probably mean ordering a MKC to get the fully loaded options I would want. Given the time lines... it would mean the new Lexus RX would probably be in showrooms by that time. So I have been keeping my eyes on that product as well. I really desire to stay with the Ford product family. Annnnd even though the 2015 MKC was a disaster and the **** car tried to kill me, Lincoln/Ford did a really good job of taking care of me and "making things right".

Thanks rayovac, please do keep us posted on what you decide. I was the one (like you) that spent 6 months test driving and researching options on EVERYTHING. Eventually came back and bought the MKC. Wished it had a 360 camera (like the Infiniti I was looking at) and was slightly bigger. Soon after buying the MKC I saw the MKX coming out and was bummed. I would have more than likely bought that if it were available(was not interested in 2015 MKX as its too much like the edge). I did plan to immediately upgrade as I loved it so much and was happy to not have to go on another car search again...

Right now my plans are on hold because of the issues I am having with my MKC unfortunately which apparently are unique. Lincoln's attitude is to blame my driving and roads and insist there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. I disagree as I have never had another vehicle "react" in such a way nor have any neighbors vehicles. I honestly do not know what happened with my vehicle but until I do I unfortunately cannot move forward with investing in another Lincoln no matter how much I like the car. I wonder like you is it worth that much more (50 vs 63K) The cars are not that different, the MKX is not incredibly larger. BUT the options you can get (and not in the MKC) might make the extra cost worth it but I'm not sure 13k more more it as you said. I would have to buy black label too (I'm big on my interiors and once you see the upgraded materials on the BL's you have to have....) so I would be looking at a $68K Msrp

Can you please tell me the MKX forum you are on so I can join? I would like to hear about any issues it may have as it too like the MKC wil be a first year production model. If you do end up getting it please let us all know your reviews and comparisons since you will have had an opportunity to own both. Also, I read that the adaptive headlights might not be available on early production models of the new MKX? Let us know if you have the headlights and what you think of those options not available to the present MKC owners.

Btw what are you driving while waiting for your new one to arrive? I hope Lincoln has supplied you with another vehicle to drive. Did Lincoln give you anything extra for your trouble and especially for your injury? I hope they took care of you beyond refunding your money for your defective MKC. You could have sued them big time.

You mention the new RX, I love they have a heads up display. One of the things the MKX should have. I see Mercedes has finally redesigned the boxy truck like GLK and renamed it the GLC. Its coming out this November and the inside looks beautiful. You might want to take a look at that too. I know I will be. Good luck with whatever car you decide on, hopefully it will be one of the lincolns and you will have a better experience than the first time. Keep us posted!

The MKX forum that seems most lively is:
Lincoln MKX Forum - Lincoln MKX Owners

The only "late availability" items for the 2016 MKX are the cheeze slicer 21" wheels and the active steering. The LED headlights will be the adaptive, narrow beam at higher speeds and widening during slower speeds, along with leveling and turning in corners.

And LOL, I keep around a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis that used to be my In-Laws... they bought it new. Its got about 130K miles on it... but run like a champ with the 4.6 V8. It would be a perfect car if it weren't for Indiana Snow and salted roads. The rust will ravage the undercarriage and render it dead well before the engine or other major components fail. The body is still rust fee, but I can see spots around the wheel wells were she is starting to blister. This has been my "go to car" for years... when I am near lease end, many times I am over my miles. So I just park it and drive the "Hoopty Wagon" :)

I am so anxious about the MKX, not the normal excitement about waiting for your new car, but more like anxiety that after this long wait, I will not "totally love it", again for the price difference.

I know when we were doing the Marathon test drive of all the competition, I was pretty close to thinking I wanted to order a new X3. Took my wife to see one and do a test drive... and that was it, No X3.... her very first comment as she looked at the dash, door panels, leather etc. was "For over $60K, I thought it would feel nicer". She was of course comparing it with the MKC. I tried to justify the performance made it worth it, but she was not on board. The X5 ramps up the luxury feel, but with the options I wanted... new it would sticker for $82-ish... I was looking at the xDrive 3.5d (diesel) on the X5, of course fully loaded. I liked the idea of 30+ MPG... but at the end of the day... its a lot of coin and I still don't get remote start, lane keep assist and an iPhone app. And long term, all the review sites claim cost of ownership over 5-6 years is going to potentially be much higher on the X5 vs. say a Lexus or Lincoln.

At the end of the day... right now I feel like this: Wait for the MKX, if its not "all that and a can of soup" I would probably wait a month or so for the new Lexus RX to appear. If it does not wow me, the backup plan would be to go 2016 MKC. I have been screwing with this all since early June, heck the car shopping thing started in October/November when I purchased the MKC.... I am really, really ready to be done for now looking for the perfect SUV and just enjoy the drive. That is why all these delays are so frustrating.

Hey Ray and mmoretti,
This past week, while waiting for my MKC (Sirius/seat cooling, etc.), I decided to drive a new MKX for many of the reasons you have all stated. I was hoping to be wowed because it is the size vehicle I needed when originally buying the MKC in July of 2014. The MKX certainly does have some unique options that would have been nice on the MKC but, after driving it (2.7L), I must say I was very satisfied with my MKC. The MKX rides noticeably different with little to no rolling/wallowing due to the larger wheelbase. It feels "heavier" and more glued to the ground. The interior felt obviously more spacious in the back seat and the cargo area but not as much as you might expect. The "cockpit" felt virtually the same as the MKC. Also, on the outside, I'd wager that your friends would think it's the same model as your MKC until told otherwise.! The 2.7L engine is amazing but it comes at a premium in both up front cost and considerably lower MPG's. My MKC is well appointed and fun to drive (averaging 24mpg!) - and leased, so in the future, I may have a change of heart! I traded my way out of a 39 month lease on a 2012 MKZ for my MKC and had considered doing so again for the MKX but I doubt I'll take the hit this time. The new MKX will sell well and is a great car - but so is my MKC!

Thanks ray and Bruce... I haven't test driven one yet but have seen them. I am surprised they are so similar. I expected it to be just slightly bigger in some way that's a little more distinguishable. This is the exact same thing as the Audi Q3 and Q5 which was the car I almost bought instead of MKC (Q5).

When I was car shopping I was torn. I was coming from strictly small sports cars and when my son was born my husband put me in the big Cadillac SRX (for a reason LOL have a bit of a speeding problem). I HATED driving it, but he was right, slowed me right down. He wants me in the biggest tank available if I would have it. It was a beautiful trouble free car though I must say. As my son got older and had bigger "toys" I appreciated the big size and grew to "like" it. I could literally throw both our bikes in the back without a rack. No need for hitch or roof box either! So when car shopping I looked at EVERY small, mid, and large sized SUV. I was looking to go back to small so started with new Q3. Then GLA which was a beauty but you might as well call that a car with a small hatchback. Ruled the smaller out but LOVED the old drive of my sports cars with them. Started looking at some mids to large. Either not enough features I wanted or to get them would cost 75K+. Was not trading in and didn't want a $900 car payment out of our monthly budget so wanted to stick around 50K for this vehicle. PLUS , honestly, had trouble dropping that much in a Lincoln. That was a big hesitation for me. Have NO problem dropping that much on an Audi, BMW, MB etc. obviously their reputation and quality has long time standing.

The MKC was the only one I felt (and after 6 months of test driving it was hard to remember and keep everything straight) after a few back and forth test drives that had that drive feel I was looking for. All the others were beautiful no doubt but more "truck like" in driving in my opinion. Particularly the x3 and x5 which my brother in law had. He went back to a sedan 550. The Land Rover evoque is my obsession (banned from LR products-long story). That 9 speed transmission is a rocket but the ride is nothing like the MKC and for my daily driver I prefer something smoother. I found that to be true with a lot if the SUVs I test drove. The MKC is very sporty and fun to drive too in addition to smooth ride, I know because I am creeping back into my bad habits...

So in regards to the MKX I wondered would it be the same ride? Seeing the size difference is pretty negligible but with a wider wheel base, more power, more weight and some of the other features (braking, adaptive steering) I was curious how the ride might differ if at all. I prefer a cozy- not cramped- cockpit. I do not like a wide open driver area that makes me feel like I'm in a truck. I like a sports car drive as opposed to a truck drive. Guess I will have to drive it to see but I don't even want to go there right now until the quality issues in my MKC are figured out.

But like Ray said will the slightly larger size and theses options be worth the larger price tag? When you get into that price range you have quite a bit of options in car/suv choices. Some of the options are really pulling me to it and if I could get them on my MKC then there might not be any reason to upgrade or change for me or anyone else. Adding those options would obviously increase the price of the MKC accordingly though. It would make the vehicles far too similar. My guess is Lincoln is distinguishing the vehicles in this way for a reason. We might be basing our opinions though as people who buy their cars fully loaded with all options and gadgets. Think if we were to buy the base of either car... Not much difference in them then IMO. Only difference right now would be sync 3 and that's only because Lincoln stupidly decided not to put that in the new MKX for some reason! Still wondering why they would do that? In the time some of us may wait for sync 3 you have multiple new models coming out and off to the other company they go...a lot of competition out there especially in this price range/category.

Anyone else test drive the MKX and have thoughts?
