HI Y'all
Wondering if when you go in for a repair you go over the proposed problem/work prior to the service at drop off and receive any paperwork prior to them touching the car? Or do you drop off and let them decide what is wrong and what to put, and NOT put on the service record.

Do you guys sign anything prior to the work? Or only receive a copy after the "work" has been completed that you then sign (or no signature required)

I'm not talking about a loaner car agreement signature but a service record regarding the work done to your car?
THNX!

Usually when I take mine in for any concern, I usually do a walk around with the service manager and explain what the issue is, they book it in, they usually give me a ball park time line, and leave it with them....at that point they start a work order,( which later will include what was done, hrs spent and any parts replaced, services, reprogramming etc.Paper work comes out at time of picking it up ( at which point I insist on doing a walk around again with the service manager just in case of any undetected damage while in their possession, you never know).
When both parties are satisfied, I sign the paper work off, I get a copy of the work order and they retain theirs for records, and we DON'T kiss & hug and say goodbye! lol
I'm in Canada, might be a different procedure where you're at.

thnx..
ever get a record back that didn't reflect what you said in the walk around? Either blatantly wrong information or left things out completely that you listed as a concern...?

I have which is why I ask to see things beforehand. My SM always has an email prior to my drop off of my description of the problem as well, yet I seem to have these "issues" with what is reported and how... then when I point out their error they say "they can't alter or change the service record after the fact" and its incorrect. So they basically pick and choose what they feel is a problem and whether or not they want to address it..
Never had a service department act this way..

I actually always request to view the notes before I leave...and bring anything misleading to the SM at that point, then I leave...I usually never take chances, especially with bodywork and interior....I don't want to get into a "Oh sir, that was there" and me saying" would you now like me to pull out my Glock?
WAY too many hands within a service area, so you just never know...They know to expect this behaviour from me,and they always seem to adapt my wishes into the service booking procedure.

Thnx again..

What do you do when they wont let you see it, and perform (or not perform the service anyway) There's not much point in signing or not signing it at that point I have to get my car back :smile I point out the errors and they say they can't alter the existing service nor will they create a new correct one. They do not allow my input in the service record description or they don't put down what I said or put down I said things I didn't...
Very shady...
Anyone have issues with a dealer over creating and maintaining proper documentation for the repairs on your cars, Lincoln or otherwise?

I had mine in today for the modem replacement under warranty. They had the work order fill out which I had to sign before leaving the car with them. I picked up the car, with a copy of the work order but I did not have to sign anything again. From what you desccribe, it sounds kind of shady what the dealer is doing. I wonder if they are putting more things on the work order in order to get reimbursed more from Lincoln?

My thoughts exactly, sounds like that is their plan, why else?
They are up to something....at Lincoln's expense and you seem to be the bait they chose.....I personally would make a massive racket in that dealership if they altered anything I discussed with them, no way, no how will I allow that to happen!
