Shifting from D directly to R?

Hello,

With "traditional" gearbox, you have a lock preventing shifting from D or N to R unless you intentionally release the lock.
But with MKC, all positions are directly accessible, so one can accidentally press R while driving on D.
What will happen? (I don't want to test it on my car ! ;-))

The actual shifting of the transmission is really controlled by the PCM. Hopefully the PCM is smart enough to look at the VSS and decide if it should make the shift that you requested using the button.

I would agree.

I do know while in S in the Mountains using the paddle shifters up and down grades, the Trans gear number display on lower instrumentation would flash and not change the gears if the engine rpm's were incorrect for selection.
