I'm just wondering if Ford may have an appetite for a sub MKC crossover? The only reason I ask is because it looks like FoMoCo may be gearing up to bring the Ecosport over to compete in the sub compact sub SUV segment (;)). As of right now the only vehicle in segment is the Buick Encore, but the Merc GLA will play in there, Audi is rumoured to be dreaming up a Q1, and then theres the BMW Active Tourer, which may not be a direct rival would/could offer similar proportions and price tags.

You think an Ecosport based Lincoln could fly?

I really don't think Ford has a choice. The Buick Encore pretty much owned the market, but that's about to change in a big way. Honda's HR-V, the Chevy Trax and Jeep Renegade will all be available soon for anybody looking for a crossover, but prefer something smaller and/or less expensive than the Escape-sized vehicles. I'm not sure Lincoln has the courage to offer something that small here right now. Maybe China, then it will be ready to go if the US market demands it.

Remember this concept from a few years back?

Lincoln styling has evolved a lot since then, but I suppose they could still try to make something similar work.

That is hideous. My eyes are burning from having to see it for this, the first time. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but not much.

Lincoln could do a smaller CUV though. Basically there are a lot of vehicles that Lincoln could make, it is just a matter of which of those they decide is the best thing for them to work on right now. This segment does seem like it is one of the hottest right now though.

A smaller MKC would be a good idea. I have seen the Buick Encore and I have to say it's nice, just not nice enough for me but for many others

I would think that Lincoln's next move would be either a range topping sedan or at least a smaller sedan. Maybe a coupe or a two seater or something. I just think that they have enough SUVs right now but not much as far as actually cars go. I really want to see the Continental nameplate come back.

I always thought a smaller sedan would be their next move, but there must be a good reason why they're not doing it.

you may hate that concept Hunter, but I've heard you say how much you love the lincoln lightbar. Where do you think that came from.... Thats right...

And touching on strategy. It actually makes very little sense for Lincoln to build a 7 series esque saloon car that will sell 10 per year. The sub-subcompact segment is really hot, well it will be. Lincoln needs to go where the volume is, the benefit of going small crossover is they can do small sedan at the same time... same architecture and what not...
